Female Seeds and GH Nutes

Hiya

I was wondering if the guys at Female seeds can shed some light on using GH nutes with their strains.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm doing a Hand Watered Bucket Hydro grow using Female Seed's Northern Lights and want to know how best to use the GH 3 Part series.

I've read on other threads (Mandala Seeds section) that folk are using GH at at only 6% of recommended strength and getting results (this was for soil). As this is my first Hydro grow I do not want to burn the hell out of my girl.

Also note that I don't yet have the means to measure ppm or ec of my solution, what I can tell you is that I live in a hard water area. I also don't have a PH kit but I'm gonna try and get hold of one today.

Ideally what I am looking for is a rough guide on how many ml per l is best suited to the NL strain from female seeds... and if you got the time also the best measurements for Nevill'e Haze Hybrid, Cinnamon, C-99 (x-line) and Grapefruit.

I use the following nute schedule for my FMS WWxBB (3 plants) and FMS indoor mix (4 plants), and I've never had nute burn. My water has a PH of 6.0 (i just run tap water through a brita filter), and then mix in my nutes, the ph has always been just right. I've never had burn (this is my 1st grow), and I flood my plants every 10 days or so. I'm now 10 days into flowering on this group (400w HPS)
(measurements per gallon of water)
VEGETATIVE GROWTH (Day 15 - 45)
Early - 1 tsp (5ml) each - micro , grow & bloom. Adjust PH to 6.2
Middle - 1 1/4 tsp (6.25 ml) micro, 1 1/4 tsp grow, 1 tsp bloom. Adjust PH to 6.2
Late - 1 1/2 tsp (7.5 ml) micro, 1 1/2 tsp grow, 1 tsp bloom. Adjust PH to 6.2

FLOWERING (Day 46 – 106, more or less depending on strain)
Early - 1 1/2 tsp micro, 1 tsp grow, 1 1/2 tsp bloom. Adjust PH to 6.2
Middle - 1 3/4 tsp (8.75 ml) micro, 3/4 tsp (3.75 ml) grow, 1 3/4 tsp bloom. Adjust PH to 6.3
Late - 2 tsp (10ml) micro, 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) grow, 2 tsp bloom. Adjust PH to 6.3
Later - 2 1/2 tsp (12.5 ml) micro, 1/2 tsp grow, 3 tsp (15 ml) bloom. Adjust PH to 6.4
edit: keep in mind to add the last 2 weeks of the plants just recieving ph adjusted water and no nutes before harvest.

Thanks Moltar, I'll bare those ratios in mind

In your coments there you mention adjusting the ph, what are you using to do this? I'm in africa so getting hold of ph up/down ain't easy. Any readily available products I can use i.e. lemon juice, vinegar etc

I just use filtered water to keep my ph adjusted, my normal tap water is 7.0, so I filter it which lowers it substantially to 6.0. If you can't filter it, I read if you leave the water out to set for half a day or so, the chlorine and other "bad" things will leave for the most part. With the filtered water, my pH is always perfect with those nute ratios, so I wouldn't know what to tell you about that, other than using vinegar/lemon juice, or just plain flushing your plants more often if the pH is too high. I don't think pH up will be an issue.

Cheers Moltar, I'll be giving yu some rep points for that.

I went out and bought a Brita water filter today. Yesterday I did a test on my normal tap water and it tested about 8PH, I did a test again today on the filtered water an it came out about 7ish.

I read that perfect PH for Hydro is around the 5.8 mark, I also heard that by adding these GH mutes it actuallt brings PH down further...

Anyone got anythings to add to Moltar's comments

Peace

Here is a general guide when using hydro. 1st thing you need a ppm/EC meter (£10 on Ebay)

4 days after emergence - plain pH 5.5 water

days 5-9 - 150 ppm nute solution
days 9-14 - 250 ppm

At this point it depends on your particular strain. I usually raise it to about 350-400 and see how the plants react, some will be happy at that, others like the skunk special just want more more more and are quite happy at 600ppm in veg and showed defs at 400 ppm.

In flower it all depends on whether you are growing Indica, sativa or quick flowering sativa. Indicas and QF sativas need higher nutes in the first 4 weeks of 12/12, sativas tend to need it week 4 onwards.
Generally raise it up gradually towards 700-800 ppm, check your ppm everyday, if they are feeding well your nute solution should become more diluted. If it gets more concentrated you know they are taking more water than nutes and you need to dilute it a little.

Hope this helps, Im kinda stoned on some grapefruit so it may be jibberish

Thanks for that Maui

I've been looking for a decent ec meter so hopefully will have one soon.
