Multicolor LED module

Saw on ebay that they now make 20-100w multicolor led modules for aquarium use. Searched a little on the net and found company that claims that they make customized led modules in range from 5w-300w in 365nm 395nm 300nm 410nm 420nmm 430nm 440nm 460nm 630nm 660nm 730nm 850nm 940nm wavelengths.

Here is info on prices of some combos, what do you think is this for real or to good to be true?

Basically is the same principle like little older RGB modules.

Whit cheap cpu cooler and power supply one could make 50w light for about 50 usd.

StarVanQLED makes them too. I forget how many of those 1mm x 1mm or they might even be smaller chips they can cram onto one module..I think the voltage on those is around 60V or something like that which makes it that you really really gotta know what you're doin'......... You blow one of them and that really hurts the ol' pocket......

Actually RGB modules have separate electrical path for each individual color. In this case all chips are connected in series (eventually more series strings connected in parallel) and the same current flow through every LED.

Anyway, the idea is excellent and I bet in a year or two the market will be saturated of this LED types and the price will go down.

And my question is : why to buy very expensive LEDs (brand name) when in the same price you can buy much more cheap china LEDs ? Maybe the performance is lower per individual diode, but usually the overall result is comparable or even better (because more leds are dispersed per square foot, giving a less shading efect - rainbow effect).

L.E. : This may be interesting too, with less that 1$/watt : https://www.ebay.com/itm/30W-Cree-XPE...item3a74f5fcf1

When a watt goes into a led, that watt has to go somewhere, either as light or heat. High quality leds create more light and less heat for a given watt.

With multi-colored chips, the rainbow effect is still there.
Being so close together, the mixing starts at a shorter distance, but the angle of incidence is still the same.
Does it matter??????

I see now days lots of people use cree modules, they are very expensive for my budget and i would like to know why I cant read anything about cheap china modules how do they perform against cree's.

I will buy two of these and would like to know your opinion:

I highly recommend the 45 mil over the 35 mil---BUT this one you have linked says 6500k which is NOT warm white.

Even the Chinese Cob's I have claim they are 3000k, however they appear MUCH WHITER to my eye than for example a CREE CXA-- 3050--- 3000k

Seems like (for some reason) that the Chinese "warm white" is a bit "cooler" or "whiter" than ours. The Cree's CXA series 2700-3000k appear redder/warmer----- in white than any Chinese white COB I have found--despite the claims that they are lower kelvin

Personally, I don't mind---I simply add full spectrum multi-colored chips to boost the missing red's------- aside my Chinese white COB's
