how many of you have grown Paraguayan Sativas? are they considered Landraces?

Hey, thats my question, here in southamerica, is really normal o grow paraguayan sativas, and they taste like nothing else i could buy from europe or usa,
anyone knows what kind of genetics they carry??
some people says that they are sativas crosses with skunks, but i really cant find that skunk smell and the flowering periods are not less than 80-90days...

well ill appreciate any info you have...

it's my understanding that most of the strains grown in paraguay are from hybrids of landraces and or lr/dutch weed.

i wanted to start a thread on how paraguay is now the cannabis export "capital" of the world.

many of the paraguay strains are reputed to be very potent but their practice of bricking wet weed in an excessively compressed manner ruins most of their product.

i've got a paraguay strain called cohiba from bsc but i haven't run it yet. there is a poly-sativa strain done by a collective vibe member named castroman that also sports the cohiba moniker, but my cohiba is from paraguay landrace per luiz at bsc.

I have 13 really good bag seeds germinating right now 3/13 popped, I would say 80% of bud in Brazil comes from Paraguay so i'm assuming they are from Paraguay as well, I smoked this bag last summer and it was a really good smoke sativa for sure, active, giggles and long lasting.. so I saved the seeds and popping them for my next grow. Your pictures got me excited to see what i get.. I hope i get some winners... When did you harvest?

hey jamaika bro como va?

I've grown a pure old school paraguayan line from friend Atreyu, it's called Paraguay '89 because of the year it was collected from brick imported to our country. At that point no skunk was introduced at all. Sadly, that happened around year '00 - '02 (introduction of 'dutch' genetics).
It was a very unique land race, tought to be an adaptation of Thai seeds brought by japanese growers to Paraguay. Another theory is that it might come from African seeds brought in by slaves taken into Brazil.
Atreyu can say a lot more about it because he also knows pure Amazonian herbs, as wells as some brazilians for sure.
Here some pics of Paraguay '89 from some years ago. I loved it, so different from everything else i've ever grown.

saludos!

thanks friends, the paraguay 89 was a delight, but it was difficult to cure properly, it would burn off all the time, something similar to OT Hazes, wich is the only herb i've grown that has some similarities with the old paraguayan.

jamaica, i meant that the introduction of so called 'dutch genetics' (skunk, afghani, widow) to paraguay occurred around the year 2002 or maybe a little later. Altough you still may find many plants that lack smell of skunk because it has diluted again in the paraguayan genepool, this same thing happened in most cannabis producing countries.

saludos
