Hello!
I've been reading the micro grow cab forums for a bout a week now and I've talked my buddy(a real good buddy) into given it a shot. The dimensions of the cab are guna be a little weird, reason for the noob questions. The height of the cab is guna be 7 feet, with a width of 2 feet, and a depth of only 10-12 inches. To maximize the efficiency of the cab we plan on dividing the cab into 3 different cabs, 2 for flower and one for mothers. That would make each one about 2 feet tall which im not sure if is tall enough for a mother chamber?? and im a little stumbled on what lights to use. i want to use CFL im just not quite sure which wattage bulbs to use?? 3-4 bulbs?? Thanks for any input! ![]()

Thanks for the input! I thought maybe a 250 watt hps/mh would work but the depth of the cab is only 12inches at most when completed I wasnt quit sure if one would fit. I think a double 100 watt CFL would be perfect, Maybe 3 75?s Ive been trying to research t5s but i dont know much about them.

CMH/HPS is going to make keeping temperatures down a real bitch, unless you plan on using a cool tube or something similar for each one. Besides, it would only really be useful for flowering. If I were you, I'd divide it into 1', 2.5', and 3.5' cabs, the smallest for clones, the biggest for flowering plants. That way you'll have plenty of room to handle the flowering stretch, and it will dissipate the heat of high wattage bulbs better. You can keep a bonsai mom in a 2.5' vertical space under CFLs no problem.

CFL's are a definite unless your house/inlet-air temps are low and your fan rate is high.
With the 24" width you can run 55w PL-L lamps.. with the bases up against the wall you'll still be able to install/remove the lamps. 2 Workhorse 5(?) ballasts and 3 55w lamps will put you at 165w. 165 / 2sqrft = 82.5 wpsqft. Not an unreasonable amount of light for cfls and that small of a space. Make sure you set up the exhaust air so that it flows past the bases, just before exiting the cab or entering the scrubber... that will take the most heat out of the area the most efficiently. Remember to keep your ballasts at 75F or below (or below the mfgs rating). Stay Safe!
