3 Ducks, 1 Down
Greetings Wally
Last year I had some ducks growing here in LatAm and they did quite well. I unfortunately only have pictures of that grow at that famed site that went down so my compliments will have to suffice. I'm a big fan of Ducksfoot to say the least (high, stealth, vigor, taste, cloning ease, etc) and decided to have a go with it again this summer, which is now coming to an end. First pic you see the three female ducks getting some good sun under some greenhouse plastic covering about two meter above and in pots with an average of 5 gallons of soil in each. (pics taken last month) The 3 were vegged indoors until November 20 and then put outside in the direct sun when about one foot tall. Since no pistils were showing at the time I had no trouble growing them in the front yard under full late spring sun and they grew tons once there but then stopped. A few weeks later, in January, when they flowered last year, i put them in the back yard which has a greenhouse covering to flower. However since then they have basically frozen in their growing at the point you see in the close up. New pistils have been very slow to emerge, crystal production is still slow, and now some plants or parts of plants have begun to shrivel up and die. Have you ever had this happen to you ? First one branch shrivels up and then either it dies alone or it continues to shrivel up the whole plant. It's the first time it's happened to me. This is not happening to about six other plants (indica or indica hybrids) I have going in similar conditions and which are in similar soil and nute regimen (well, a touch lighter). Anyway, just wondering if this has ever happened to any of you. Before I go let me add that I also add that at some point in early December, once these plants had been outdoors for about three weeks, I felt that they had gone into flowering (huge growth spurt, and some pistils) but then stopped flowering as the days kept on getting longer in late spring. Could this previous short termed flowering period be screwing up my current flowering ? Could they have reverted into veg and are now taking their time to re-revert into flowering ? Last year these plants finished in the first weeks of April! Well, that;s a lot of questions. It's just that I miss my duckstash so much... all the best peace Parappa |

looks like they ran out of steam mate ,, they really like to be in the ground from what i see ,, they like to develope a nice big root ball to support the growth they will have ,, large sativas are often hard to grow in pots ...

best scenario in pots id say is to repot into a nice large pot just as they begin to flower ..l be careful not to slow them down too much ..

Thanks for the reply Wally,
I learned quite a bit this year and hopefully next year I will not repeat the same mistakes. On the remaining plants above, a few branches were chopped, and they were placed in a particularly sunny spot so hopefully there'll be some harvest but of a modest size I imagine. BUt these remaining branches look good. I forgot to add that the plants have started to release their wonderful fruity scent so I'm hoping that's indication that they're on their way to further flowering. I will post pictures if indeed they make it to the finish line. I wanted to ask you as well if any of your genetics show a noticeable lower light requirement in outdoor grows, in other words if any do well in partially shaded areas. I don't have full sun all day here. all the best cheers Parappa |
