Which type of timer for 1200W?

Hey guys,

I have until recently been using an analogue timer which looks a lot like this one: https://www.greenshorticulture.co.uk/...gmental-Timer/

It is however not the grasslin brand timer.

Now this timer started locking/welding up. The circular clock that is supposed to turn around slowly will not move by itself; I have to manually switch the light on and off for now.

The timer was destroyed by 600W after a few grows. As I am planning on using 1200W for my next grow, I will probably need a better timer.

Can anyone recommend a timer which will not suddently "lock up"? I need a shucko/EU plug version; if not I'd have given the grasslin brand a go.

Thank you guys in advance, peace!

Those timers look really sturdy.

Do you have to wire the timer into the circuit, as opposed to "plug and play"-type timers?

In my country we use 230v, so I will have to get the t104

The total cost for me seems to be around 100$ as the postage is insanely high, so I am open for european brand alternatives.

I can't help you with a European brand, but it is pretty simple to make the above timers portable - you can just install cords for the line/load connections. Easiest is probably to find an appropriate extension cord, cut it in half, and install it.

Another option if you want the resolution of an electronic timer is to use virtually any timer to drive a power relay, using the relay to switch the actual load.

I just got this for my 2x 600w Grow-closet :

Timer Box ll 4x600w + Heater when lights are off (230V) "EU Plug" and i paid aprox. 100€ + shipping

(i only paid for one without heater socket, but got one with )

The greate thing with this is that it timer only pull the releay that then deals with the high amps..
