Anyone know if Charlie is making more Punto Rojo? I think I read he was but not sure. I have one pack of it but germ rates are low I guess and just thinking of the future. I have looked all over and this gem is not to be found. If a bank has it they will not ship to US.

I found one hehe. I guess Charlie will make more of these for those that missed out.

Perhaps it is right in front of my eyes, where did Charlie say this would be re-released? Any timeline?

I hope he does, yesum. If he doesn't, I still have 3 of these beans left to run from the stock I bought in 2010 or whatever it was...

I found two females...I forget how many beans I started, but I seem to remember the strike rates as being pretty good. Both plants were grown in 20 gallon smart pots with a cover crop. I basically top dressed these and gave them foliar feeds during veg. I gave them some casting teas and micros during veg and pre flower, but for the most part, I just top dressed and gave them plain water.

Here's the first one. This one had white pistils and smelled like lemon rinds....

Dried and curing:

Here's the other one I got. It had magenta colored pistils and was a bit more vigorous than the other one.

Dried shot:

Side by side....Punto Rojo (white pistil) on the left, Punto Rojo (magenta pistil) on the right...

I harvested the white pistil plant about 1 week before I harvested the magenta one, so it's had a bit more time to dry. I put some of the uncured Punto Rojo white pistil in an old wooden cigarillo box for about a week and smoked some last night. Very very nice high...all in the head. Very trippy stuff. Incense smells permeated the house after smoking, but it wasn't the same incense I would get off of say a Nev's Haze or something like that. It was somewhat sweeter/more complex, I think. The taste, even uncured, is very pleasant, but a bit hard to describe...flavors that come to mind include: buttery caramel, hash, coffee. The dried bud smells like a haze, but less NL-ish than some of the other Hazes I've grown in the past.

The magenta pistil one I haven't tried yet, but as it's curing it's losing that lemony smell and taking on more of a mango/hashy smell. I can't give a final judgement on the smell yet because it's basically just started curing, but I think it's gonna be a winner.

Bottom line: Charlie really hit the mark with these seeds. Easy plant to grow and not very picky regarding nutrients...early rains didn't cause too much damage, considering how much rain we got. If I do ever get to grow these last 3 seeds, I'm hoping to transplant any females I might get directly into the ground. I could have gotten a much better yield if I had put them in the ground as opposed to putting them in 20 gallon smart pots.

*Edit*...I looked back at my old posts and my strike rate on these seeds (and the punta rosa) was 2 out of 3 started. For both varieties, the 2 seeds I got to sprout ended up being females. The punta rosa plants are still going. I'm hoping to pull those down in another couple weeks.

HB.

Great looking buds. Quite dense looking compared to what I had seen of others that grew this. Where are you at as far as latitude? I take it these were grown outdoors.
