apartment growers: if you could do it all over again...
Heres the deal. I just got finished w/ a crazy legal situation and am ready to start growing again. The only thing my credit/ finances will allow is an apartment.
Everything else is really up in the air. Basically I am willing to make sacrifices in many other areas if I can grow safely. If you could start from scratch KNOWING you had to do it an apartment, how would you work it? From a large apartment complex(easier to find) owned by a corporation or a private guy leasing an apartment(hard, but possible). I can possibly get two bedrooms if that's relevant. I was hoping for around a half pound a month. What is generally the safest way to go about this? closets, cabinets, a combination of both, a bedroom, what? Can anyone give me a practical breakdown of how much room that would require? Thanks a million |

i'd go with the corporate style management companies if you cant find an out of town landlord. they tend to be far less nosy, and your only interaction is likely to be when you pay them - the way i like it. you'd be amazed how petty, obnoxious, and nosy individual landlords can be. its hit or miss though, sometimes you cant even get them to fix stuff (and this makes for great revenge. posted my landlord revenge story a while ago, worth a search/read for a laugh)
1/2 a month, means 2 per cycle, means run a 1kw or maybe 2x 600w perpetually.. can be done in a mid-sized closet with proper ventilation, and a seperate place to store clones/veg. |

Would consider odor controll, to be prioroty numero uno...something to make NASA proud. Would do a cabinet or series of, or sure-to-be-out-of-the-way closet...with locks, easy to disassemble in the advent of a quick move-out, easy to make look like they belong there in the second bedroom doing nothing but holding innocent items. 1/2 lb. may be a bit ambitious with those size constraints, but not impossible.

apartment growing (rentiing and growing where u rent) is highly dangerous, if the landlord dont know bout it. dude landlords have the right to enter ur placce if they own it when ever they want.....u cannot changer the locks to the place without letting them know...expecially apartmetn firms are dangerous..i know if i ran a apartment buisness i wouldnt want one of my rentees growing anythingillegal ..that owuld jepordise me as a renter.
keep this in mind whena u rent bro....i h8 to see anotehr guy go down over a fucking plant peace ps growing ur pwn weed is done when u own a home and do just enough for urself and dont get greeedy, i would stick to out doors...unless u are sure ur landlord is cool with it... and then even if ur landlord is cool with t still broke one of the golden rules....dont let no one know u grow. hope this helps

A landlord has to give 24 hours advance notice, except in case of an emergency. To be safe, check tenant and landlord laws in your area.
Go with a large company that owns several complexes. The biggest concern is noise. I grow in an apartment. I had one complaint about noise (my vortex fan), I insulated it and no more complaints. Use a good carbon filter and keep the power consumption reasonable. Example of my typical power bill (without growing): Winter: $35-$40 month Summer: $50-$60 month Growing: Winter: $60-70 month Summer: $80-$120 month |

all that privacy laws and stuff dont matter..who follows the laws for real. of landlord wants to go in your house he will. ive had it happen to me, and i know ppl it happens to. its just like the cops they do what ever they want ...then they make up the story to justify themselves...but in this case its landlord seeing grow..its to late...if he want to go in for any reason. ppl do like that do shit ...thencome up with a excuse afterwords to justify it, my advice would be just stick to outdoor . then u are much safer then indoor, when u rent. there are some people that wouldnt even entertain the idea of growing in a rented apartment, simply because landlord has a key, if they have a key they can snoop.
but then again if u must grow at rental, do what JJ said "make sure landlord is older" age 60+ is safe then u know thyenot snooping, oh and if u must do this its always good to start at the beginning of winter to, this way the eletrict usage isnt noticed everyone runs more eletric in winter, ( i guess it only matter iff u running x2 1kwatters or more)

Mjguru is right, they will just up and go into your place if they feel like it, but I've only had that happen with small places. The larger companies usually stick to the laws fairly well.

I'm with aeric, if you had a large fake cabinet with oder control and locks then even if someone had to come in for a inspection/whatever a large cabinet in a bedroom would be off limits. The most important items would be odor control and the locks.
