BOG mentioned in one of his posts that he used placebo co2. Any one know what this is?

I use a couple co2 cartridges like you use in a pellet gun each day in my flowering room. It was once said to me that I don't use enough co2 and that it was just a placebo.
My point is that any co2 is better than none even if all it does is prevent co2 depletion. Basically I used too little co2 but you probably saw the Giant Bogglegum plant I grew indoors in soil that went 11.5 oz. So if it is just a placebo then how did I get such a yield? BOGThis is a pic of a BMR bud almost done from seed at 51 days flowering and it is the more Bubblegum phenotype I love best. It has a blueberry/lavender smell and color... ![]()

Do you just blast the cartridges in the room or meter it in?
A small/mini torch regulator setup like the have at Radio Shack? A seltzer bottle will hold 3 of those cartridges if I remember right (it's been awhile since the days of whip-its for me). What about natrual co2 with yeast, sugar and water? I always wondered if that would be worth the trouble. Thanks in advance Texas Kid |

Paintballing sites use 20Oz bottles which are quite handy or companys also sell huge 6ft containers of it too. Pay a deposit for the kit and the gas is about £5-10 to fill up. Get a controller and simply program the size of the room and the ppm required. It's best around 2500ppm and at about 4000ppm becomes toxic to humans ( though plants can survive
). Adds about 5-20% yield depending on the quality of the setup. Very advisable to get a built in fan controller too, no point extracting the expensive c02 until you get your full return. I did a huge FAQ on overgrow about this a few years ago on how the plants can use far more C02 than you would think and why. Worth a read if it's still there. The main downside is it's tricky to setup properly and still very expensive.

I have always wondered about the yeast, sugar, and water CO2 supplement too. Is it worth the effort? I have also heard it brings an unpleasant smell.
Eventually I want to have the controller setup like vapour is talkin about, but thats $$$...my plan is to buy a piece of a controlled environtment at a time, hopefully in a year or two ill have a sealed off room under total environmental control.
