LED light spectrum and skin cancer?

Hi all,

I have been wondering if any of the wavelengths that LED lights today use (for optimum photosynthesis), could also cause skin cancer?

The reason I ask this is, I know that many companies offer several wavelength for their LED lights. For example AdvancedLED diamond extreme has 11 wavelengths, BlackDog LED Platinum XL has 15 wavelength. That's really nice for photosynthesis, but could any of those wavelengths cause cancer?

Should we be wearing sunscreen for UV protection in our garden?

Thank you in advance!

their is little UV/IR (both ends of the spectrum) in most led lamps, so i doubt that any exposure would be harmful, not nearly as powerful as the sun as all.

Eyes may need some protection and everything has a green tint afterward, but i've not noticed any skin cancer yet. Less UV than a blacklight, less IR than a heat lamp...

None with mine and I measured with a uvb meter. I also measured the pl-l I use and it emitted a little at 1 inch away.

They do have LED that emit uv but those are special ordered and all.

Wear sunglasses but the UV in LED panels has nothing on the sun.

Thank you all for your answers!

Here is the answer I received from Lumigrow:

Quote:
Our LEDs do not produce any UV light. All the light is in the PAR spectrum and these particular wavelengths themselves are not associated with health issues
