I've always heard you want between 50-80 watts per square foot. If I have 4.5 square feet I'm hitting 55 watts/SF this is also purely for personal and I'd like to run it year round as a hobby, but don't want to run up the electric bill too high.

I agree 100% with not using large pot sizes with coco... BUT there is a easy way around dry pockets... When you xplant hand water until saturation then feed with normal Drip feeding schedule and there will be 0 dry pockets.

I have 9 trees in 5 gallons under 1600w and I can tell you the roots are even growing out of the top of the pots.. No dry spots no lockouts.

2 gallon SP's, I'd advise full coco. Once roots fill out, I've noticed plants in 2gSP's suck the pot dry after a day (under a 1k)

But honestly, it depends on your preferred watering method (hand or by drippers) & how much time you have to spend in your garden.

hey guys i have some newly sprouted seedlings in westlands soil 4ins pots can i transplant them into canna coco as i would like to try coco now but hand water as i wouldn't feel confidant trying a drip system first run ? great thread HGO....also can anyone recommend a good ph meter iam in the UK
