Thumbs up Draft Dodging 2006: Iran Edition

Every morning I wake up afraid to read the news. Every day the conflicts in Iraq seem to escalate, and now it looks like attacking Iran is becoming a favored idea amongst those in power... and after the severe drain of resources caused by the Iraq war and bullshit government contracting, I'm starting to believe that a draft will be inevitable if we decide to attack Iran.

There's no fucking way the US military is getting their hands on me, or my brothers, to send us to kill and die for them. One of them is autistic, and one of them is a smart motherfucker with too much to lose... neither of which would be viable excuses when you consider what the army's standards are now (lots of people getting recruited despite placing in the bottom 10% of proficiency exams).

I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way... which is why I'm asking about this here, where hopefully I'll only be flamed a little. I need to make a plan, have some cash set aside so if shit hits the fan I can grab my bros and get the fuck out. But what can you do? Would they come looking for us? Where could we go? I'm sure it would be damn near impossible to cross the border out of the country if a draft was in effect. How long would I have to stay in hiding?

Basically, how does one dodge a draft, and what do you plan on doing should there be one?

See you in the forest...

Man, thank god I was in the Boy Scouts. Turned me onto camping, and later survival/no-trace camping.

the chances of a US draft to supply people for Iraq/Iran are zero. And its like bankruptcy. Draft dodging might get you out of an immediate situation, but for life, you are a fugitive and branded as a coward and a traitor, (I realize those may not be traits you harbor, but still you get branded as such).

I wouldn't say a traitor and coward for life, many Nam era draft dogers have been forgiven.

Really, the majority of opinions on T.V. and papers come from minds that haven't explored themselves. Talking about ideas that they can not comprehend, even when they are reporting such ideas.

It's scary just how much CNN and other new groups pave the way to war.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think the chance as is is alot higher than zero, and the stakes are rising daily. Just today we woke up to our newspapers, with the Iranian president on the front page, threatening "harm and pain" to the US. Empty threat or not, there's a snowball's chance in Hell of it being taken that way.

Also, I'd like to add that I have no problem whatsoever upholding that which I believe so strongly, even if it means being branded a cowardly traitor, even in the eyes of the law.

Life or death, I will never let another man's opinion or classification of me dictate how I live, or let it comprimise my morals.

NightFire will become famous soon enough
As things are now, I'd rather go to war against the US than with it.

Being persian/iranian there is no way in hell i'm fighting a war against my native country. That being said, there is no way that the US is going to do a land invasion in Iran, what is more likely is an air strike, either conducted by Israel (which does not have to let the international atomic agency into its country nor follow its rules, by the way) or by the US. Unfortunatley, with the horrible state of our intelligence, these strikes will defintley be off target.
Lets not forget that Iran is at lest TEN YEARS away from producing a nuclear weapon...that's a long freaking time. This pre-emptive strike is bullshit...a lot of people (I partially buy into it) believe the Iranian Oil Bourse has something to do with this sudden need to attack Iran. Essentially Iran is looking to sell its oil in Euros, which could have potentially devastating effects to the US dollar, as oil is only traded in dollars currently, pre-iraq invasion saddam was looking to do the same thing...
Getting off topic sorry, there's no way in hell I'm fighting against my native land, and IF a draft is ever instituted, I assure I'm not running, or fighting. I am going to protest my heart out.

The republicans who are pro-war forgave George W....

if you are pro-war and go awol, that is a good reason to say you are a traitor and coward.
