Fucking Texas....

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1632097.html

This is coming from a Native Texan. This is just too much. First they pass a law to ban the teaching of evolution, and now this. I can see that stupid movie idiocracy playing out ion front of me, and it is sad. This shit frustrates me so much.

The position causing the most controversy, however, is the statement that they oppose the teaching of "higher order thinking skills" -- a curriculum which strives to encourage critical thinking -- arguing that it might challenge "student's fixed beliefs" and undermine "parental authority."

Quote:
Texas Republican Party Calls For Abstinence Only Sex Ed, Corporal Punishment In Schools

Early this month, Texas Republican delegates met in Fort Worth to approve their 2012 platform, notable parts of which take aim at the state's education system.

In the section titled "Educating Our Children," the document states that "corporal punishment is effective" and recommends teachers be given "more authority" to deal with disciplinary problems.

Additionally, the document states the party opposes mandatory pre-school and kindergarten, saying parents are "best suited to train their children in their early development."

The position causing the most controversy, however, is the statement that they oppose the teaching of "higher order thinking skills" -- a curriculum which strives to encourage critical thinking -- arguing that it might challenge "student's fixed beliefs" and undermine "parental authority."

The party also notes its encouragement of legislation that prevents "non-citizens unlawfully present in the United States" from enrolling in public schools, a stance that federal officials have previously deemed against the law.

In March, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan told Bloomberg he felt "very, very badly" for Texas students.

"Texas may have the lowest high school graduation rate in the country," Duncan said, according to Bloomberg.

The following weekend, former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs gave his own criticism of the state's education system.

"I think when it comes to someone like Rick Perry, [voters are] going to wonder why a place like Texas has one of the worst education systems," Gibbs said on "Meet the Press."

I ask you , Who does more harm the kid peddling a little marijuana in the bathroom or the people deciding the curriculum for a thousand kids? . These people need to die off so the newer generation can take over .

The kids are just as bad down there. It's a generational thing in most states, but not Texas.

If I may quote an esteemed intellectual, the late great Don Phill Leotardo: "The turd doesn't fall far from the phaggots ass."

Texas is fucked up. Religion still plays a large role in politics and education. It's the epicenter of the police state. It's hot and humid as fuck.

I live here. Not a native, but close enough. I guess at least we have jobs down here right now.

All in all there are worse places to live. Nigeria comes to mind.

THe unfortunate thing, is that the Texas board of Education is the group that picks texts books for the texas schools. But the publishers put in what the Texas folks like to see. You know the made up history that is going around the mis guided right. So the rest of the country get stuck with text books the boobs in Texas insist on. So its not just the kids in Texas that are losing, but the rest of the kids in the country lose too. Its a sad day when the wing nuts get to be in charge. VOTE LEFT.. the right is just nuts.

One of the places that in Texas that I grew in for a years was like nazi Germany. It is why I have anxiety sometimes. I have had a reoccurring nightmare for the last two years that I go back to visit and get stuck there like it is a giant prison.

Anyone who was not obvious white conservative christian over the age of 25 was harassed on the reg. for every mile of road in the town there was two squad cars just constantly circling one at each end. response time in that town for police was like 2 minutes. I couldnt fire off a paintball gun in my own back yard to test it after I fixed it with out the cops being called by some shit head neighbor that shits their pants every time a car backfires. I have literally been pulled over multiple times a day for no infraction, just a random ten minutes of questioning. Living in that town will turn you into a sheeple, a suicide case, or a serial killer. the suicide rate was extremely high among all ages. None of the schools had windows. The schools and the police have a zero tolerance policy with kids and adults. then they turn around and claim they are the best city in the state. The schools force kids that wont get into good schools to get GED's to keep their stats up. There was a law says your car had to be of a certain quality, and move every couple of days or they would tow it even if it was parked in front of your own house. The cops planted a joint on my friend, beat him and arrested him for being black in the wrong place. the stories go on I fucking hate that nazi police state. doesnt matter if you can own gun because the population is trained like nazi germans, and think the police there are just the greatest thing ever. they smile with compliance as they get herded along to starbucks then to work then to home everyday for 30 years.

All that for nothing. Child heroin use was so off the charts it made news week and MTV. Now it is meth. In seventh grade I could not get a beer, but any other drug was available at any point after about age 13.

I grew up in the world of sheltering suburban mom meme. My mother was the exact opposite and made sure I was not sheltered at all. she is from the projects in south Chicago so she never identified with anyone in that suburb.

Bunch of fucking squabbling monkeys on both sides.
