not sure if this is the right section or not, but i recently picked up some buds from my friend.. when i took a closer look i noticed black spots inside and partialy outside the buds.. i could shake the bud and these black dots fall out ..could they be dead spider mites? any ill effects from smoking dead mites if thats the case?

hey ogkush. i had bud like that like 3 weeks ago. they smelled citrusy and orangey, do you live in CA? maybe we got the same connect. when i looked closely i can see little dots too.. i was concerned at first, but then i smoked it. i dont know what it is but i thought it mighta been spider mights also. i never thought of it as serious though .. can someone shed some light on the problem for us ?

Are they about the size of a flea? Sounds like it could be spider mites or some other critter. Examine any under your microscope?

Hey man I just had the same thing happen to me except in was just one big bud of some afghani kush that was infested. I smoked the rest of the bag and upon breaking this bud up I saw all the little tiny black spots stuck to the inside and outside. I inspected it with a scope and sure enoufh they were mites. It was real hard to determine at first because you can't see any legs on most of them. I found a few that still had the legs on em. I through that shit out. I don't know if it's harmful or not but I'm not smoking a bunch of little bugs.

if you find a bud with mites you can bake it at 200 degrees in the oven. The mites will be killed then just shake them lose and have at it. as long as it looks worth it.

well if it ain't spidermites then it must be some kinda flyeggs....had alotta very small flys that came through the open window and when they got more alotta black dots appeared on the hole plant.
anyway whatever it is it's not good.
