LAKEPORT -- A potential interim marijuana cultivation law impacted the meeting of the Lake County Medical Marijuana Cultivation Ordinance Advisory Committee Wednesday.

With committee members Bobby Dutcher and District 4 Supervisor Anthony Farrington missing, no action was taken on proposed number of plants for small parcels between an eighth and one-half acre in size.

The discussion was re-opened following a desire to add the additional category of one-eighth of an acre category.

Much of the two-hour meeting was spent discussing matters related to the interim ordinance the Board of Supervisors (BOS) were set to discuss Tuesday afternoon.

Hundreds of people filled the first floor of the Lake County Courthouse, causing a potential safety hazard. The supervisors rescheduled the discussion to take place at the Little Theatre Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds on July 9.

Some members of the committee said they wanted more data from the Lake County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) and code enforcement to assist them in making an informed decision. The committee members were interested in seeing data on the number of plants stemming from complaints to the LCSO and code enforcement.

Community Development Director Rick Coel, who was present at the meeting, said he would talk to LCSO about the matter.

Another issue discussed was the possibility of allowing individual communities or districts to come up with region-specific limits for the number of marijuana plants. It was not put to a vote.
The committee is scheduled to meet again on July 16 at 2:30 p.m. in Conference Room C at the courthouse.

Hey Al thanks for posting the new info. I can't believe those people seem to think they know how many plants, and how they will impact others living around them? Are they concerned with other plant varieties, such as roses that loft a perfume smell upon neighbors? Why is it they feel cannabis is so offensive? A lot of us find it stunning..good luck you guys, I feel for Ya..be well..DD

No they're not, although that has been brought up before the BOS already. I'm highly allegeric to roses and other flowers (including cannabis in flower). And I believe any limitation they put on cannabis flowers, they should put on ALL flowers and trees too which also cause me allergies.

Why treat cannabis as such a special case.

Anyway MY IDEA for the NEXT referendum in Lake County is one that will PROHIBIT the BOS from making ANY LAW regarding marijuana, and rescinding those it did make, including the ban on dispensaries in Lake County.

Let Lake County abide by California State Law. No need for further meddling with laws that are already on the books.

No need to continue to waste the time of Lake County's BOS and citizens in this matter. Too much energy has been wasted attempting to circumvent state law to please a few right wingers who want to rid the county of all marijuana users.

This BOS has managed to divide the county into two or more opposing camps and keep it divided and antagonistic to each other over these issues.

So I propose the BOS no longer be allowed to pass any law relating to cannabis, period! That is what I want to see on the next referendum.

Geeze Skip you drew the bad straw with your allergies..that's not right! I'd love to be at the meeting when you propose this Skip..just to see how they react. They all must know by now how much time everyone's put into this and how they've "divided" their neighbors and friends...good luck. DD
