Hello all,

What methods do you employ to prevent pest infestation?

This could be of benefit to us all.

safers soap, neem oil and organicide amd iso alcohol is what i have been using when i battled the bugs and still use them on my plants until early flower.... But how old should plants be before you can aply is 2-3 weeks from seed to young? PeAcE

What formulations and dosage schdules and such?

I understand that rooted clones tolerate iso alcohol sprays but bugs don't.

minds_I,

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Most pests are carried in by the grower or tourists.
Quarantine new cuttings/clones or plants.
Preventatively treat newbies.
Do chores in the grow before handling newbies.
Brush and weeds harbor pests. Keep the yard trim and brush cut.
Wash and change clothes and shoes before opening/entering the grow.
This last is especially important if you have been outside cutting the lawn, gardening, hiking.
Some have shallow tubs of bleach water to treat shoes before entering walk in size grows.
Women's nylon stockings stretched over duct ends work nicely to screen smaller air intakes.

scotts makes a line of garden-safe pesticides that are made out of vegetable oil and natural plant hormones that will kill bugs.

the only bug problem i have in my grow is fruit flies, and although not detrimental to your garden's overall health, it's annoying getting little bugs in your drinking glass ;(

it works, it's safe. but it appears to be only temporary, as i usually have to spray it every day.

Sulpher Vaporizer

Sulpher vapors change the pH on the leaves of the plant. This makes the surface unsuitable for fungus or mold growth. It will also significantly slow the reproduction of pests, acting as an effective means of pest control. It is very effective on powdery mildew, thrips and spider mites. The heat plate is automatically regulated to 140 degrees, this allows the sulpher to vaporize. Safe! This unit never gets hot to the touch. Does not come with sulpher (available below).

SUNSPRAY ULTRA-FINE OIL
Insect Suffocant and Repellent

An ultra refined oil that is used as a suffocant and repellent on most varieties of tree crops, vegetables and ornamentals. Listed pests include; aphids, scale, mites, whiteflies, horn worms, leaf miners, lace bugs, etc. May be used both as a dormant spray as well as during active growth for controlling insect infestations. May be mixed with other insecticidal soaps. Use at 2-4 fl oz per gallon of water. 1-3 gallons per 100 gallons. Apply at 100 gallons per acre. Active ingredient 98.8% Paraffinic petroleum oil. The 2.5 gal size, For CA commercial growers a Pest. ID# is required.

SM-90 is an organic based pest inhibitor, which discourages pest infection, fungus and root rot. SM-90 is prepared from natural plant oils. The organic composition of SM-90 results in it's ability to be bio degradable and is also non toxic to humans, animals and plants. It can be applied as a foliar spray or directly into reservoirs.

I just got over a mite infestation that was bad.I read like 50 different cures here that people swear by.Bog told me about Safers 3 in 1 Organic spray and i had Neem and Pyrthin(SP?) and nothin worked,it slowed them down but everytime i looked at the plants i would see these crab ass things scurrying around

,lol . (1)So i heard about the no pest strips and i bought two and put them in my Bud room ,i didnt really think they would save me but i tryed everything and nothing worked.After only a week i was seeing a great difference and the crabs,lol, now looked like there bodies had caved in and there aint shit for mites anymore

.These things might be a little toxic,(make that alot if it's prolonged use)but they cured what ailed me and my girls are lookin fine now.I only use Organics, but had to resort to using the Hot Shots NPS's because it was bad..(2)Never take cuts from anyone,and if you do make sure you qaurantine(sp?) them and clean em up good.Peace all and stay safe,FMD
