Fire hazard in micro cabinet
I have been modifying a cabinet I already had, but i made some components out of 5.2mm birch plywood. One of the components is a filter assembly that a 70W CMH will be mounted to, or rather an aluminum duct that the socket is mounted on will be mounted to.
After reading some stuff in the stickies I am now concerned that was a bad idea. Is there something I can coat the wood with to make it more fire resistant? Like plaster maybe? I am also thinking about just totally redoing the components with 1/2" drywall, and maybe using a piece of galvanized steel sheet metal I have to add strength to it so it holds screws the way I need it to. |

There are products that increase fire resistant capabilities of wood and other materials. I would suggest just going with the drywall. Although I am still trying to picture what your filter assembly looks like to understand exactly what it is you got going on.
