There wasn't any Home Depot to hire labor from the parking lot.
I recruited these guy's from the local High School!lol! These young men were football players, they were in the best shape! They wanted more than money. I had to ply these guy's with beer, chewing tobacco, & bullets! The only catch was, it all had to be consumed at the cabin. A real boys club! ![]() doublejj

This is my Father-in-law.
My Mother-in-Law sent him up & see what I had gotten their daughter into! He extended his vacation by 2 months & stayed the whole summer!lol! ![]() At the time I thought he just liked the beer, smoke, & bullets. But I assume now, it was because of concern for his daughter. doublejj

Some of the most rewarding work I've ever done My wife told me she didn't want to live in a teeny cabin in the woods. So I made sure the cabin would be big enough! doublejj P.S. Sorry if I load any of these pictures twice, I lose track of the ones I've posted already. Bear with me Any questions or comments?

Mr. doublejj,
Really enjoying your thread here, dude. I love talking to guys from your generation, so many interesting stories and points of view. I'd like to hear more about you finding weed in Vietnam, if you're willing to share. How much did it cost? What was the quality like? When I first saw your greenhouse thread in 2010, I remember seeing you wearing an army cap in some of your pics and I wanted to ask you back then if/when you had served. Most of the guys I know who were in Vietnam don't like to talk about it much, so out of respect for you and your privacy, I didn't ask. Keep those pics/stories coming, dubs. Just like your greenhouse threads, this is one of my favorites. Take care and good luck on the greenhouse this year. HB.

Thanks bro, it's hard to talk about Vietnam, but it's also good to do sometimes.
I wear an ARMY hat every day as a tribute to those serving & those that have served. Just my way of letting each of them know, I think of them every day, and put them above me. It's painfull to even try to recall all the quality lives that were lost. Some of the bravest men I've ever seen. Drugs (Marijuana/herion/opium) were available everywhere in Vietnam. Most rickshaw drivers, or bartenders sold it. The quality was hit & miss. I hate to say it, but i got much of the weed I smoked from our supply sgt!lol! He could get real Thai-stix's & hashish! Thai-stix= 2for$1. You could get a temple ball of hash for $5, that you couldn't smoke up in 3 days of tryng!lol! I wouldn't smoke when we were out in the field on patrol (I just couldn't). But I puffed like a frieght train at base camp. Our Lt got high with us at base camp! doublejj
