any climbers out there?

any other rock climbers out there? i am a one-handed climber and i climb up to 5.10c right now. i know there has to be other rock climbers in the stoner community. nothing better than completing a climb and sparking a bowl. it's one of the most peaceful chill feelings out there. especially when you are on top of something that you cant possibly get on without climbing. it's really earning the view i feel.

I'm a former rock climber. The biggest wall I've done to date was "The Regular Route" on Fairview Dome in Yosemite. That's where I suffered a lightning strike ~80ft from the summit. My favorite place is/was Lover's Leap on Hwy 50 near Echo Summit. I've done a number of routes there. Corrugation Corner is my favorite route there. It's not technically challenging, but the high degree of exposure makes it psychologically intimidating (one spot where you're out on the wall with about 300ft of air below you). Most of my climbs have been domes and peaks in Yosemite.

wait

you basically climb 5.11 and you have one hand?

good on ya m8

I climb 5.10 and have both hands. I live in Portland Oregon so we go to Smith Rock whenever we can. The Tiaton river area in Washington is also AMAZING.

glad to see there are a couple other climbers here.

i've never climbed in yosemite but i've been there a couple times before i started climbing. now that i climb i cant wait to go back; eventually when i get a car that can handle some longer trips i will be going through yosemite a lot i hope. and Dave, you got hit by lightning while climbing? lucky it didnt fry your rope!

and yup. i lost my hand 2 years ago and started climbing last year. i live close enough to joshua tree that my friends and i can pitch in on gas and climb there often, or sometimes we do some indoor climbing in riverside, but outdoors is unbeatable. right now my highest onsight (i dont count indoor stuff) is a 5.10c. i'm also just starting to lead multi pitch trad.

bouldering is perfect for stoners,it requires huge efforts to go nowhere, you need a combo of ADD and OCD in order to be good at it,and you get to spend half your time lounging on comfy pads with snacks, what could be better?

well I've been a dozen or so times.. to a couple different places.
its crazy how intense of a cardio work out it is in such a short amount of time on the rock. i need better shoes thats for sure.

I like getting stuck on a move... where i must try different awkward ways of grabbing the next little pinch or ways to stand on a little nodule the size of a finger tip... theres a slight rewarding feeling figuring out how to attack the problem.

i never was that good, and haven't been many times since i broke my arm (arm wrestling) but that seems like no excuse now/in comparison seeing as i still have two arms.. respect knubs I've only climbed rope once it was cool how you can start in the same spot if you mess up, as when bouldering i always start over from the beginning of the route.

4 sure Unc, its cool being outdoors getting a lil exercise... and getting baked the way there while climbing and on the way back not to mention all of the places are just cool places in their own right especially yosemite
