Treyvon Martin ... THC found

This is bad news for all concerned.

The law, the politics, and the science, colliding head-on.

It will be used both in court, and in the court of public opinion.

The pundits will go nuts, the scolds will nag, and the beat goes on.

"(CNN) -- Trayvon Martin had drugs in his system when he was fatally shot earlier this year by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, according to autopsy results released Thursday.
Martin's blood contained THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, according to an autopsy conducted February 27 -- the day after the teenager was shot dead.
Toxicology tests found elements of the drug in the teenager's chest blood -- 1.5 nanograms per milliliter of one type (THC), as well as 7.3 nanograms of another type (THC-COOH) -- according to the medical examiner's report. There was also a presumed positive test of cannabinoids in Martin's urine. It was not immediately clear how significant these amounts were.
He died from a gunshot wounded to chest fired from "intermediate range," according to the medical examiner's report, which was one of several documents on the case released Thursday by the office of special prosecutor Angela Corey."

I kind of doubt that it will change anybody's beliefs. One side will run around and scream and shout about drug-crazed gangstas and the rest of us wil go ho-hum, so what, we know it's bullshit.

It's unfortunate that the media is sensationalizing the THC in the blood thing, but their purpose isn't honesty and balance in reporting, it's to make money. Anything for a buck.

The repeators(miss spelled intended because most are not reporters) will run with what they are told will sell, be it papers or advert slots.
I have very mixed emotions on this case. I don't know what to believe of what either side has claimed.

People have metabolites of weed in their systems for weeks after they smoke a joint.

However, George Zimmerman was speedballing. And he had a gun. With which he chose to shoot an unarmed teenager on his way from the local shop to his home.

And then things get mysterious. High ranking officials show up to prevent George from even being charged. And all this is supposed to be because George's father is a magistrate. I'm still not clear on that.

Even worse is the case of the face-eater in Miami.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/face-eating...ry?id=16451452

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1632253.html

First the authorities claimed it was "bath salts" than made him do it. Now it's widely reported that he had THC, not bath salts, in his system. The implication is clear that weed drove him to madness.

Though some of the reports do make it clear that there's no indication that weed was actually to blame, the headlines -which are what sticks in the reader's mind- make that direct implication. Some of the articles don't even make a distinctinon.

A lot of the articles also bring up the guy who ate the family dog while high on K2. It's always made clear that K2 is "synthetic marijuana."

https://www.kshb.com/dpp/news/man-eat...fter-taking-k2

It's all part and parcel of a last-ditch sensationalistic propaganda campaign in the battle against legalization. They know they're losing. The lowest elements in the media are having a field day backing up the lowest elements in law enforcement and policy creation.

The problem is when you're high you can become very paranoid and scared, so who knows what went on with him.

Yeah, I'd be "paranoid" too if someone with a gun were following me down the street, giving me shit. Just going to the store, seems the Florida Stand Your Ground law would cover Trayvon, right? -granger
