Johnny’s MBS & Z99 test grow “micro style”

Welcome all, and once again many thanks to Donald for gifting me some seeds ( MBS & Z99 ).

First up I must apologise for taking this long to get started with a grow test. As you will see shortly I did start about 8 weeks ago but due to a Pc crash, I lost all pics I had taken of the earlier growth.

Ok, on with it then.
This is a true micro grow done under fluros so I am limited in height to only 45 cm ( about 18 inch ) and can only fit in 6 small pots which is done on a perpetual cycle. This is usually 2 pots in and out about every 4 weeks. This does limit me to the amount that I can grow and test at any 1 time.

I did start 2 MBS seeds originally, both sprouted via the wet paper method, but after planting only 1 emerged. This was vegged for a couple of weeks, the top was cut to take a clone and the plant then put into flower. As it turned out a healthy female was found. Very vigorous in growth too by the way.

The cut has been rooted and is now being trained into a new mum in case it is a keeper. The mum has also been topped once and given up a new clone which has it self rooted and planted out a couple off days ago. This new clone will be documented more carefully in this log to show how it performs in a micro grow.

Now a couple of pics of the first MBS plant at 7 weeks into flower. You will see that I had to “bend it over” to fit into the cab, as I said very vigorous growth, but all is good.

This is a shot of the whole plant

A pic of the main bud

A close up of the bud

All my current plants are grown in an organic soil which is recycled and reused, watered with plain rain water and once a fortnight with some organic ferts. Watering is done every 3 days during summer and now it cooling of it is every 4 days and in winter every 5 days. This is done via submersion of the pots into the water and let soak until no more bubbles are noticed.

So if any one has questions or comments etc please feel free, good or bad off coarse.

Cheers Johnny

Hey there Wally

So far is similar to the others although it did stretch a lot more than I had hopped for, as is evident to the bent over top. I will be curios as to how it behaves as a cutting/clone when grown out. I have one potted up now which will be going in some time shortly which I will document a lot more closely.

Will be curios as to the final weight dried and see if it about what I get from my current plant ( Nirvana Special ). I usually get about 4 grams of each plant, so far it has developed a nice bud so time will tell.

What tends to be about the average maturity time of this strain ?? 8 weeks or is it longer ??

Also have a second MBS seedling now growing as well so will see how that behaves too.

Pics coming of the new seedling, clone of first 1 and progress of the new mum latter today or tomorrow.

Cheers Johnny

Hi johnnybsmokin
They do stretch abit but will ease off in the successive clone runs as the plant has more genetic age over time. The bent tops can give rise to some very weighty top flowers so i too will be interested to see the weight and your thoughts on the line
Ty again for testing m8
Much respect

Hi all again

Moonunit thanks for stopping by, it's a privilege to be able to test these seed, so I hope I can do some justice to it all. The stretch is not to much of a problem, I just need to find the sweet spot/height at which to start flower as every plant is different.

blynx Iv'e not cut it down yet, will be checking tric colours over the weekend under the scope and then make mind up as to when it will happen. It is however getting very "stinky" at this stage I had to change my filter last week because of the smell...lol

chris93 thanks mate, I'm not a big smoker so my little baby's give me what I need to be happy. I get as much satisfaction growing it in mini form as I do from smoking the results.

Ok a couple more photo's

This one is the new mum created from the current MBS in flower. Its already given up a nice clone which is veggin and will be going into flower soon.

This is a top shot of the clone, thought I had a side on view but I can't find it.

And this is the new MBS seedling, side and top views. This one will be documented in this log as well as the cutting/clone from above

And last one I thought I would show a group shot of the veg/mum cab. A little crowded at the moment, mum's, cuttings growing, clones rooting.

As I said in the first post, I am limited to space so I can only test 1 or 2 at a time, but I will get there. As space allows I will next try one of the Z99's.

Cheers all
Johnny

Hey Wally

Checked the trics a couple of days ago and Iv'e decided to chop the main bud off. Was looking at a good number of cloudy and and some amber colours so I decided this grow to harvest. Have left the lower buds for another week or so as then I will need the space for another 2 more clones to go in. 1 will be a clone of this MBS and the other 1 my other strain.

So a couple of pics of the "bud" which was cut at 61 days.

Just before cut

Just after cut

With a quick trim and wet weight at 12.3 grams

I did take 1 of the smallest and lowest popcorn buds, quick dried it and had a sample. If it is any indication, it should be a great smoke as the 1/2 a cone it gave me really hit home nicely.

It does have quite a strong odour to it as I had to change my filter about 2 weeks ago and was really noticable when I cut it. It is quite a sweet fruity smell, with a hint of diesel and a little under tone of prehaps fresh mint growing in the garden. A very nice smell I must say.

I am looking forward to trying this after it has dried and cured a bit but that will still be a few weeks away yet, but in the mean time I will be documenting the next "clone" of this plant more closely for you all.

Cheer Johnny
