(LED)Growing with a Vegetative Stage light for vegetation only...

I'm wondering.... when you look at all recommended LED coverage, you always see more space covered by a light during vegetation.

If I was growing with 400w with 60% of that light being in the 660-630nm range, could I veg with a light that had 80% 440nm-470nm...maybe 10% 630nm and 10% IR/Cool White at only 200w while keeping the light closer to the plants than with full cycle lights?

I've read in a few places that plants require less intense light and more light absorption from the 420-480nm range.

Anyways, so research has led me to a ratio of 7:1:1 (7 Blue/1 Red/1 White or Supplemental) for a LED Veg light. Still think less wattage/intensity is needed for veg than flower.....comments?

Wink

The veg room being used now has 714 driven watts of LED at 30% blue. The budroom runs 10% blue.
I tried 90% blue when using HID and it did not work well, all the plants not only stunted, but all the leaves went round and smooth also. Kinda like a reveg when it first starts.
I did not run tests on where the break point would be on growth, only one test room and sidelights were showing more gain at that point.

110 watts/square foot for bud, over 300 watts/square foot for veg.

This is in conjunction with a long day plant that likes intense high altitude light, from the amount of canoeing on the leaves a full third less light would be just as effective for veg growth on the MJ.

I put more light to veg plants as that is when the most mass is being added, but this is more than needed.

Personal choice, the plants grow regardless.

jessicalennita is an unknown quantity at this point
As we know that LED grow lights provides less heat with low power consumption, they helps in the healthier growth of the plants. More lighting, more healthier the plants would be but it should be in a certain time period.
