Complete DIY LED kits (non-soldering)

If you google 'Modular LED' you will find the site...

for those of you who don't solder, you can buy everything you need to build your own LED array from this place...

just thought this might help out some people that wanted to go the DIY route...

Pretty cool. The complete kits weren't cheap though.

LED technology is not cheap in general. in fact most of the DIYers will tell you it's gonna be almost expensive as just buying a unit retail...

I've been looking at both Modular (Canada) and Rapid LED (South San Francisco).

Rapid has a new branded driver with a built on dimmer and they have a good supply of 5w whites and 3w blues but completely lacking in any solder-less Reds.

heatsinkusa.com looks like the place to start for heat sinks. I would like to make multiple 4' bars with the 1.8" wide @ $.68/inch. I want to just use thermal epoxy and glue the led's right to the aluminum and solder them. Preferably no fans.

I'm still not sure where to find any of the actual LED's. Does anyone with experience know any good led suppliers? that Modular LED place doesnt seem to have a good selection of LED's. I've found a few other sites that sell led's, but then got lost in all the specifications.

Mouser.com has a good selection, and Cutter.com.au has a good variety already mounted on MCPCB stars. I don't know what the shipping would be like from Australia, though.

Here's the beginning of my little LED project. Wasn't much to do. These parts are from Rapid LED. I ordered the diodes and connectors from Modular LED.

Rapid sells current Crees, and pre-drilled heat sinks!

They also have both solder and solderless kits
