Another newbie question about Fluorescent
I plan on growing with Fluorescents and I was wondering what kind of yields others have had when growing with only Fluorescent? I plan on using 5 shop lights, 10 blubs about 30000 lumens in a 12 sq ft area. and gowing 2-5 plants from dp feminized passion 1

-Ya got enoughf light to grow with. -But not much more. -You cant flower like that tho. -If you do youl end up with some shit that I wouldnt wanna smoke. The light those lights put out,-although its bright, -dont got what it takes to FLOWER weed. -Youl need hps(high pressure sodium) lights to do that. -They carry the proper spectrum needed to promote flowering. -Bein your post said you were a fng I wont spin yor head around with tek shit and just tell ya what ya COULD do. -You could germinate seeds under thoes flouros and get yourself a metal halide light(MH). -You can use it in conjunction with your flouros for the first 2 months of your plants life. -Then you could get yourself a high presure sodium light(HPS)and flower. --Pretty much thats what you do... -You start out with flouros and MH's early on in a plants life and when your done vegetatin and yourready to flower -you switch over to HPS. -If you tried to do this all with your flouros youd be disapointed. -TF><>'

I used to grow with floro's. I used mostly cool white for veg and mostly warm light for flower . the yeild was small . I usually got about an ounce from 4 3ft plants. I now use a 400watt HPS and usually get about 2 oz per plant.

I disagree, the real difference about Floros and hps is Hps can penatrate, floros cant, period. So if your going to use floros to flower use the screen of green style of growing. this way you will be only giveing the top part light and you will have lots of different places for colas(they wont be as fat as one with a hps but they will be fat enough) and you wont have to penatrate very far so this is very effective with Floros [/quote] ,',',',',',',','~~^^><>' --I disagree.... -There are major differances in the spectrums of light emmited by these sorces. -Penetration isnt the REAL differance at all. -The real diferance is that the red light emited by a HPS*(*high pres sodium for the nube Q asker)-stimulates FLOWER producion. -Nobody flowers with flouros by prefrance. -Its just not practical. -Im not sayin ya cant... -I just cant tell the guy I think its a good idea tho. -TF><>'

Anyone who doubts you can grow quality buds with floros should watch this video clip.
I built a overdriven floro fixture for my veg chamber and the results are amazing. I haven't had a chance to flower with it yet, but looking at the buds that are in the clip it can be done very well. Check it out and let me know what you think https://www.pot-tv.net/archive/shows/...owse-2023.html |

I agree with Sharp_Pain...
Fluoros can be used the entire cycle and if used properly, they work great... The bud in my avatar was grown with fluoros... It was not leafy, nor was it airy, in fact, it was very dense... this bud was grown with all fluoros... ![]() There are tons of threads on OG with successful fluoro grows, in fact, even whole threads dedicated to using fluorescents to grow cannabis... The main issue is, if fluoros are not kept as close to the plants as possible and the plant is not surrounded or covered by light you will not get the best results... Also, using the highest wattage fluoro available will lead to a better amount of lumens/watt.. Some people may only be able to handle fluoros (in the heat aspect) because the large surface area the tubes have makes heat dissipation easier... |

I got a fluoro bulb from discount hydro for $50. 125 watts if I remember correctly. 2 of these and a couple of compact fluoros and you could flower 1 good plant, also great for veg.
I also converted (plans on OG) a security to a 100 watt hps lite. Not much invested. Shop lites are cheap, you will get a crop. That is good, but a HID lite is in your future.

I agree on the fluoros, I got 2.8 ozs off of 4 plants with all fluoro...clearly I would have done better had I added a HPS even a small one like a 250, but you might as well give it a try.
