Hi Gb , these crosses use MBS 1 plants from the test thread , the male is improveing everything it touches so far.
Hi Donald , she uses quite a lot of leaf and male shoots in a safe way , if it were legal she would be useing bud as it lasts for years in display. Getting 80% sucess rate , about the same i had with toms forty years ago , its a solution looking for a problem really , but an interesting curiosity. The male nodes will produce pollen if shoots are left , one plant could be left isolated outdoors to produce seed with no further attention. All my experiments have used plants of similar vigour and habit , trying extremes would probably be an imbalanced freakshow , and better done with other types of graft due to the stem diameter issue. |

MBS x Casey have huge long narrow shiney leaves and a sparse bud form and placement , the odour is mouldy laundry with garlic now.
If it fills out it could yield decent , an elegant plant but has a lot to do. |

Lovely as always m8, love the oldschool graft, seedmaking in one plant lol.
Love the tomatoes myself, although this year i harvested the pollen donor variety(black russian)pollen, emasculated all the target varieties, then pollenated, only to have blight come through in force like no other year. All that pain in ass, especialy emasculating and no test hybrids for next season dammit lol, the black russian would have made some awsome hybrids to play with. Ailisa Craig hybrids are gaining momentum over here now as they yeild outstanding crops under most aussie conditions, but the pure Ailisa fairs not to well out of her prefered native glasshouse enviroment. Anyways m8, again, lovely work Much respect Moonunit

Thanks DH , these are way behind the casey,s in bud development at this stage , but that could still change , if not the sheer number of budsites will help.
Thanks moon , used to graft a lot of toms this way to put heirlooms on resistant rootstock for outdoor and glasshouse , most glass beds were full of virus by the 60,s and this was common , seems to have been lost along the way. Ailsa craig rings a bell , have a local pure line of ornamentals that go back to when they were decorative but not eaten , traced back to before 1800 , the hybrids are a clusterfuck unfortunately. Cherrychunk x MBS on left , MBS x Casey on the right , very different. Despite a shot of mg , has strange shiny oddly shaded leaves , an original MBS girl has a similar leaf trait and it does her no harm , but looks strange in a room full of wierd stuff. |

Cherrychunk x Casey is filling out a bit and the smell is still good , this one has the MBS double serration and the CC leaf trait

Thanks Joeski , if the buds fill out to match the massive stems i will be very happy.
The ten packs of Antipodes went fast , this bud is a common expression , high count should ensure it is easy to find , and should not dissapoint in colour or potency. |
