Z99 "C" outdoors at 13N
Hello all
It's been a few months and I've been meaning to get a thread started. My usual spot got compromised, so I'm laying low for a few months, but finishing up (and starting some others) some Z99 testers in my greenhouse area. They stay small out here without additional light, so it's do-able. My conditions: 13 degrees north, currently in the dry season with daylight slowly increasing, but won't top 12.5 hours. Sharing a single 3 gallon pot with maybe only a gallon or so of soil (stealth reasons). Sunshine #4 with FF dry ferts. Started on February 20 and popped within 24 hours. Within a week, they looked good. 4 weeks later, they're about a week into flowering and are looking nice. Might be hard to tell from the picture, but they're about 8 inches tall. I actually tied them down a little because they were getting too high for the pot. I ran some in my other spot that also showed a lone runt out of 5 plants, so I'm not sure how common it is, or if it's just my growing. No real smell yet, but we'll start to see it soon. So far, they're a real treat. I've never had something that I could rely on to germinate so fast with such success. I also have about 6 or so that just germinated last week. Hoping to find a good male and make some stock for a rainy day. Can't wait to take them to full term. |

Things are still going along nicely and I'll get some pictures up in the next few days. They've been flowering for about 3 weeks now and are starting to show personality. The smell so far is a really crisp tropical sweet smell. Not like candy, but not overly fruity like berries. Guessing it's the pineapple C99 in her. Frost is starting to show up and I imagine they'll continue to put on weight and trichs for the next 5-6 weeks. Not sure how long they'll end up going, but if I had to guess now, I'd say 8-9 weeks total.

Update
Here's a few pictures of the current Z99. There are 3 plants in this container, but I have another 5 seedlings going. Those will probably start flowering in a week or so. These girls are about 3 weeks into flowering and, after checking them yesterday, there's a little more funk to the smell than I remember before.

It's an honor to grow these. I checked the girls again this weekend and they're really starting to fatten up compared to the previous week. I like the cindy-leaning ones because they stay small. I usually go for the big sativas, but this is something I've been really looking for. I can see 2 of them getting pulled in about 3 weeks, maybe 4. The other "runt" one is going along just fine, but is a week or 2 behind. Can definitely tell she's cindy influenced by the smell. Straight pineapple.

Checked on them today. The good news is that two of the seeds I planted a few weeks ago have sexed and are female. The bad news is that I'm running out of seeds to get another male. I got a bunch of males on my first run, but didn't make too many seeds with them. 3 more left and I could hold on to them for a rainy day or I can try for another male while I have viable fems. We'll see. Still got an amazing tropical fruit smell, but I'm starting to get some more fuel out of her. They're probably at about week 5 or 6 right now, and I'll try to take them another 3 weeks, provided mold isn't an issue. Will post pics soon.
For now, I can say that this is an amazing plant. Germ rates are excellent. Variation seems to be limited to two phenos that I've noticed. One seems to be a shorter variety that takes a little longer to pack on the flowers, while the majority look to be early flowering sativa-dominant plants. Counting down the next 3 weeks will be a challenge, but it will definitely be worth it. |

Pics
Here's a shot of my z99 girl a few weeks away. Reminds me a lot of Don's pictures of Z99 from another thread. Don, if you see this, how much time would you say she has left? I know they're testers, so that'll be something for me to find out, but figured I'd ask.
