some pre-harvest questions!
hey all!
i'm kinda newish on this forum, i've just been lurking for a long time after a bit of a scare with the end of OG, but my grow is just about done! it's my first grow, just a bunch of bagseed, and conditions haven't been optimal, to say the least. but whatever! they've made it far and they're some pretty damn rugged ladies. i'm going to be chopping them down this week, and i thought i'd outline a bit of my grow and ask a couple of questions. i've got 5 bagseed ladies from 8 grown seeds, vegged under fluoros in a rubbermaid tub, and flowered out under a 250 hps. they're quasi-organic, having been watered with chemical veg nutes and then organic flower nutes for the past two months. in a mixture brewed up by the guy at my hydro shop, mostly perlite and promix, with supplements. and i've decided to move out of my house, so i have to give my landlords notice by the 1st, and from that point on they'll be bringing in people to see the place. so i'm chopping them down on the first, at just shy of 8 weeks flowering time. i think that the four indicas will probably be some nice smoke, but the sativa will be way early. oh well, them's the breaks. i haven't checked them with a magnifier or anything, since it's not really up to me when i harvest them. so my plan is that tomorrow i'll give them 7 or 8 hours of light, do a full flush of their pots (they haven't gotten strong nutes for a week and a half), and then stick them in darkness for 48 hours. on wednesday, i'll chop them down, trim fan leaves, and hang them to dry in my grow space (with the light off, obviously, and the exhaust on and filtered). hopefully by the weekend they'll be dry, before my landlords will likely have anyone in to see the place. then i'll do some manicuring, and jar them up for a week or so before i tie into them for real. i'll jar them as long as possible, but seriously. it's been four months, i'm gonna be sampling them as soon as i chop them. so, any comments? my one question is: does anyone know if it's possible to dry pot in a room that's fairly cool? will this just slow down the drying process, or will it mess it up somehow? anyways. i've been reading posts on here and it's been helpful, thanks alot for giving us OG'ers a new home! cheers, tweaks (ps, i'll post pics tomorrow! they're in dark now and i dont have any recent pics!) |

If I were you I would wait 1 more month to give notice the the landlord and let the ladies finsih up.. You spent so much time taking care of them to get to this point 1 more month and you can have some quality smoke. Cut them early and you are smoking bud that is at 20-30% of its THC potential. Translation, the weed will taste ok, but hardly get you high. My advice, go get yourself that scope and finish your ladies, jar the bud up and start your cure, start packing your shit up and cleaning the area up. Move to the new place and break open them jars and break in the new place with some primo smoke..
Drying in extreme temps very hot or very cold will degrade the quality.. |

Always try to learn from your experience. But I think you should wait a month to give notice as well, if at all possible. |
