New place, new grow! (Strawberry Diesel IX content)
Hey all, I spent this last summer on hiatus without a place to grow but I'm back in action and excited to share my images with the community! It's been a long time coming and I've had a little stockpile of Ganesh seeds to keep me busy! (Thanks for the awesome pricing Ganesh!!!)
I started out with 5 Straw D IX seeds resulting in a 4/5 germ rate. Of the 4 phenos 2 were male and 2 female. This thread will document my selection process. Where I'm set up I don't have internet, and also don't have the cord to my cam so the pictures will be up on occasion. For now, I have some shots taken by a friend with a very nice cam. Day 20 of 12/12 I believe, and the pictures of veg progress will eventually make it up to the forums.*These have been feed with Floranova Grow/Bloom, Floralicious+ and Hygrozyme. Humboldt mix in 3 gallon smart pots, veg'd under 400w, flowering under 1k HPS. I'm loving the looks of all of these plants so far, and I can't wait until they start to really stink! I see a lot of differences between the 2 phenos, and neither one is a huge stretcher, much to my surprise. I have a feeling this will be a difficult choice to make! Here is the pheno #1, my shorter, squattier plant with broad leaves. Indica dominant for sure. Here is the profile shot for pheno #3, the lanky, more sativa leaning girl: some close-ups Thats all I have for now... It's great to be back, and I can't wait for each coming update!!! Take care y'all, and thanks for watching! -Kaoss

Thanks for stopping by Ganesh! Glad to have you aboard!
Little update (sans pics, sorry guys!) Day 31 in flower and both phenotypes have started to stack on the resin, and with that resin came the first whiff of what these girls will smell and taste like, and I'm loving both equally! Pheno #1 (shorter fatter plant) smells like straight sour diesel with a little bit of fruit blended in. This pheno also has an xmas tree shape to it with tight, conical buds forming on the colas. Even though it's been topped, it doesn't really appear that way. Tree shape through and through. Pheno #3 (the tall one) has the berry funk to it, reeking of strawberry jam and fuel. This is appearing to be the true strawberry diesel expression which was the reason to get these seeds in the first place, the smell is almost exactly what I was hoping for! Her buds have a rounder, more golf ball-esque formation and the plant behaves more like a bush when topped. It's easier to spread her out and get her exposed to more light than her sister plant. That's all I've got for now, expect pics shortly! I need to get my shit together so I can keep this train rolling! Thanks for stopping by, sorry for the picless tease! -Kaoss

Update (finally!)
Sorry it took me so long to get back to it, but real-life shit has gotten the best of me lately and I had way bigger things on my plate than updating a grow log. Anywho, I finished out one run of the 2 Strawberry Diesel phenotypes and am currently flushing the second round. Had some serious heat stress issues this time around (estimated 100-115 degrees in the flower room due to a heat-wave.), easily avoidable had I expected unseasonable weather and set up an A/C before summer really started... I'm pretty frustrated about this but it's just a learning experience. I feel I'll end up with some good smoke regardless, and I'm confident that the next time through will be my best. I learned in the first round that these girls NEED a little extra nitrogen during flower, but otherwise take to my usual Floranova regimen just fine. The varied characteristics of each pheno made it really hard to decide which one to keep, and I ended up going with Pheno #3, as it is almost exactly what I was looking for in this grow... She stacks resin from early on and keeps it up through the flush, super frosty however not very sticky to the touch (definitely still leaves a coating of sour mentholated strawberry funk on your fingers, don't get me wrong!) bag appeal is definitely high with this one. Only thing I don't like so much about her is that she has very lanky, rubbery stalks that need a lot of support in mid-late flower and she also has wirey roots which are plenty vigorous, but don't help much as a solid foundation for her to stand on. #1 was easier to manage with way sturdier stems, extremely vigorous roots (like I have never seen before), Topped or un-topped, she behaves the same way and you'd never be able to tell from a distance. To top it off she has a great sour-diesel-dominant stank to it... Like dipping a strawberry car freshener in random fuels, however when cured didn't match up at all in taste or smell...the smell was actually nothing like how it was in flower, in fact it actually smells bland and unappealing which turns some off. In flower though, she appears to ooze resin and is greasy to the touch. Though I'd love to keep them both, I have Deep Strawberry Diesel, Strawberry Kush, and some Mosca C99 to play with as well as very limited space. Gotta narrow it down to 1 for the time being (and don't worry, I've kept a male SDIX and 5 beans around just in case ![]() Enough of the typing, and on with the few pics I have that aren't ravaged by summer heat: It's been a while and I can't remember when these were taken, but I believe it was between 4.5-6 weeks in? SDIX1 SDIX3 SDIX3 after trim Keeper IX3 round 2, Day 68 (heat stress evident :\) I really love the smoke this herb produces, and I'll have a side-by side smoke report when I stop taking dabs of wax from a friend and get a clear palette... Letting these cure a bit more can't hurt either! Ganesh - You're the fucking man for making these genetics available to us here, amazing price for a mother I'll hopefully be keeping around for years to come and a great experience taboot. I CANNOT wait to try your SDK! I hope to share more of my experiences with your gear on IC in the near future. Much love homie. Thanks for stopping by!!! Should be smooth sailing from here on out!! -Kaoss

Limited to 5 photos so I had to throw my cured nug shot here:
SDIX3 I also had an MK-Ultra clone in the flower room, ran the General Organics GO Box for fun and got some good results. Here is the plant that the SDIX grew old with (no more than 10 minutes before getting trimmed up): MK-Nug And that's all she wrote. Peace!

Kaossilation you did a stellar job with those girls.
Really nice to see such full plants. High heats with make some crazy wild calx stacking on the strawberry diesel. Never really bothered me to much cause when the buds dry, the stretch calyx usually draws in on itself and tightens up a bit. The yield is usally so large, with such large buds, that a few broken up foxtails makes for a some smaller bud to round out the package! Cheers |

Hey!
inreplyavalon - Thanks for the kind words! Glad you appreciate the fullness of these girls... Never really wanted to flower anything without a proper veg period. More time to observe in veg is a win/win for me so far (especially from seed) and the yield definitely makes it worth the time! The Strawberry diesel definitely likes to throw up those foxtails in the heat, and it doesn't bother me; its the dead leaf everywhere that I have to trim away. Anyway thank you for stopping by! I really like checking out your grows too, great taste in strains! Ganesh - Great to see you in here as well! They're currently hanging in the closet and I'm hoping to put the flowers in jars by this coming weekend but we'll see. The first round is what I'm smoking on now, and its been treating myself and my friends very nicely. Can't wait to try out the next one... My whole house smelled like sour cough while trimming the other day! Anyway, I'll be putting 2 Deep Strawberry Diesel girls from seed into the flower tent for their first time through today. I'll take photos every week or 2 of those when they start to blow up. ...It means a lot to have compliments coming from the both of you! As somewhat of a new grower, it puts a smile on my face reading these comments. Take care until next time! -Kaoss

Hey everyone, I was taking pics of the DSD in my flower tent today and figured I'd snap a few of the single SD IX3 I have going alongside.
SD IX1 is now defunct as I don't have the space to keep her around unfortunately. I do plan on keeping this girl around for a while though. Tomato cages are a MUST for this pheno... its like they were meant to be. These photos were taken today, day 30 of 12/12 Since the smoke from my last run ended up sub-par due to high heats, I'm really excited to do a proper report with this coming run! I'm off to smoke some hash and relax! ![]() Stay lifted friends. -Kaoss
