Congo: A study.

Id like to take the time to document information, followed by pictures of plants later, Inshallah.

Africa produces some of the best genes, my particular favourite from those ive been lucky enough to try is that of the Congo...the clean, electric high THC effect is great, the woody/carrot/citric flavours present in some Africans and S.Americans floats my boat. Please bear with me as i compile info in readyness of a Congo Pointe Noir x Congo Black indoor reproduction.

Thanks to a kind soul, a true Ganja man and Landrace seed guardian, if not for him this repro would not be possible..Muchos gracias amigo..

Quote:
The Democratic Republic of Congo is the third-largest country in Africa and is bordered to the north by the Central African Republic and Sudan, to the east by Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania, to the south by Zambia and Angola, and to the west by the Republic of Congo and the Angolan enclave, Cabinda. The country has a coastline of only 27km (17 miles), at the outlet of the Congo River, which flows into the Atlantic. The country straddles the equator and has widely differing geographical features, including mountain ranges in the north and west, a vast central plain through which the Congo River flows, and the volcanoes and lakes of the Kivu region. The river has given rise to extensive tropical rainforests on the western border with the Republic of Congo.

High temps of 31C and coldest normal temp is 18C, humidity from 40%-90+%, wet and dry season.

We're both working on the same congolese line. He probably knows more about it's origins than I. I am fairly certain that its the same line used by ace seeds for their congo hybrid. From what I can gather what differentiates congo black from other congolese lines is the curing process which is likely similar to the curing process of malawi zomba black and mozambique black. Also the congo's borders have changed much in the last 40 years. What are now zaire (democratic republic of congo) strains may have been sold as congolese in the past. Most of the congo basin is also in zaire. I am aware of two phenotypes of congolese herb. Possibly they are the southern (brazzaville) strains and northern (congo basin). The first I am aware of is a shorter type (5-9 ft) with very wide nearly horizontal branching and smaller widish leaves (for an african sativa) (possibly southern type) which I believe the line we have belongs but not certain. The other type which is like a larger columbian (9-15 ft at 3 S, yikes!) in a higher subtropical latitude these could possibly get ginormous, but it really depends on how they'd react to the different light cycle.

Good to see people growing the double congo and other congo lines, special plants indeed, and some of the best looking imo plant/bud structure is perfecto.
