H2O2/hydrogen peroxide/vetyperoksidi

Hi,

I've heard this is good for keeping the roots healthy in hydroponic systems. Is this used growing in Finland, or just not bothered with?

Where can I purchase it? I do not think I've seen it at the supermarket but I haven't exactly been looking.

Very useful stuff; water+oxygen. Good for adding extra oxygen to rootzone after overwatering or for stopping rootrot.

You can buy it from a pharmacy. They will try to sell you the weaker solution at first 3% H2O2.
But if you keep at it and ask for the 30% solution they will sell it to you (propably with long faces, but who cares). They might even ask you whats it for, or why do you need it.

And you might ask that why do they sell it in these ridicilous, clumsy, fragile and leaking 1litre bottles, so I guess you're even.

Yes, I thought it would be available from the pharmacy but in something designed for disinfecting scratches or cuts (for example a cream.)

I wouldn't really feel comfortable going into the apteekki and asking for 30% H2O2. Too many questions and they will probably ask for ID too.

I suppose there are some chemical suppliers which might sell to individuals, but then you have the same problems with questions about why you want to purchase H2O2.

I was thinking it would be really useful to have because I had to cut down one of my plants (it was male) in a DWC bucket which had three plants growing. Stupid to grow more than one plant per bucket, but it's my first grow, lesson learned. The roots from the cut down plant will probably rot and maybe hurt the remaining two plants?

Btw, my thread is over here if you want to take a look.

They gave me 9 % hydrogen peroxide without too many questions (but with long faces, yeah) when I asked for some a bit more condensed than the one in the shelf, which was 3%. Its in a small bottle and costs maybe a bit more than 5 euros. About the bottles capful of that for every 5 liters of water I add to my dripper has made wonders. Sometimes I also just add it to my res and watch how they erect their leaves..

Just go to pharmacy and ask 1kg of 30% hydrogen peroxide. If they ask somethig say that you are sanitaising our water well (rats or small animals might get there and die)
