LED: How many watts for clones over a Turbo Klone T48?
I just bought a Turbo Kloner T48 and want to add an LED unit above it for the clones.
What size unit do I need? 200W or maybe 300W? Or is 300W over kill for clones? I will be purchasing a unit with TRUE 3W diodes, so keep that in mind. And I would want the blue spectrum of LEDs used for veg vs the red used for flowering correct? Thanks. |

I took a look at their lineup, they have a 90w, 180w & 300w listed for clones.
I was pretty close in my picks, but unsure if 300w might be overkill for over a T48? What do you guys think? Should I go with a 300w unit or go a bit safer with a 200w unt? I don't want to burn the clones out, but at the same time want to get the best for the situation. |

other than the Size and Number of LEDS used, the specs look the same for their flower and veg lights. I think they may have just copied and pasted the body across to the different models, but what are the differences and or specs?

The company I am going to do business with (not blackstar) has 3 models that are around what I would need:
55, 3w diodes - actual power draw 95w 80, 3w diodes - Actual power draw 132w 100, 3w diodes - Actual power draw 165w All units are the same size in footprint, 16x8x2 They offer units with more LED's, but I think one of these three will be plenty for over a T48 kloner. I want to get the most efficient unit possible for the situation possible, so I would prefer the 55x3w unit if it would work. But if the clones need more light & the 100x3w unit is needed, then I will go with that one. Or maybe the one in the middle with 80x3 is just right? Thoughts? |

After some more research, someone has suggested even the 55x3 would be overkill. The company has a 45x3 but it is the round, ufo version & I think the rectangle would give better coverage over the turbo klone T48.
I think I'm leaning towards the 55x3 and will just raise it up a bit higher than normal. This way I get the LED's over my clones like I want and get the best coverage with the rectangle foot print. |
