Romulan x Romulan Max Grow

I hope you wont be closing this forum CLS. Id like to be able to share my plants from your Romulan line. Ive always been a big Star Trek Fan, so this was a definite must for me. Its one of those strains that I was immediately drawn to when I first set out growing. I think its been about three years since Ive started, and Ive finally got her in my garden.

The seedlings first came up about the 15th. I have pics starting right at their seedling stage, and skip a long time as I had Broad mites for months and had no clue. Now that the mites are beaten back, Ive been able to sex them. Sadly, I have 7 males, and 2 females. Im saving all the males, and will be treating them with Florel 12ml/gallon. Ive already begun this with some other strains. I hope it is successful, as I want to do a 1:1 mating of my best male with my two females, and go from there.

More pics to follow in subsequent posts.

First up are some pics from the 10th. They're showing continued improvement and renewed vigor, but they still have a bit to go before being at full speed.

I recently switched overto a new media by Promix. its Bx with bio-fungicide, and I couldn't possibly be happier with this switch. I used to use Fafard 3b, but developed major issues with root pathogens eventually. Now that im using Bx, I have the most beautiful white fuzzy roots ever. It blows my mind that Ive been missing out on roots like this. Ill try and get some good pics tonight.

Ive also started using Bioworks RootShield Home and Garden, which is another type of bio-fungicide, but you get best results when its sprayed onto media rather than as a media drench.

So thumbs up to Premier for this Pro-Mix Bx. They have a wide lineup of media with this Bio-Fungicide for different needs.

Promix Bx/RootShield Root Shots

These shots are of a Mr. Nice Black Widow rootball two weeks post transplant. Before transplant, she had been suffering from root pathogens. Now check her out. Pretty much all of my plants had bad root problems before transplant, but now they're roots look amazing.

Of course I still have to be careful to monitor how much and when I water them. This is why I prefer plastic pots, as I can just lift the plant right out and inspect the media from top to bottom quickly and easily and gauge if I need to water. I only water enough to get the top half of the media wet visibly, then I allow it to sit for awhile and check back to see how much the water has wicked into the lower portion of the media. If the media is slightly dry still, I apply a small amount of water and wait. Spurr recommended the Pulse method of watering, and this is how I water now if hand-watering(I also use Blumats) and Im much happier with the results. It takes longer but its better. I also dont flush at each watering, as that has shown to easily kill off root hairs.

Improper watering is usually why people get root pathogens in the first place, but these products will provide an extra layer of protection when you might screw up watering, which is something that took me a long time to get a good grip on.

Thanks for showing up fellas. Ive got a few pics of the two ladies H & I on the 13th. Im looking to flower them in 7-10 days as spots open up in my flower tent. I can't let them get too large as space in the flower tent is really tight. They need the extra time to root into the surrounding media.

Its taking longer to root into the new media than I would like and I think it has something to do with the fabric bags. I use Root Pouch, but recently been using MicroKote treated plastic containers, and square plastic containers, and I get faster rooting in either plastic container. The media in the fabric bags always settles as the bags are moved about resulting in unwanted compaction.

Ill be putting up a thread of a side by side of Root Pouch versus MicroKote plastic containers soon. You'll get a much better idea why Im phasing fabric bags out of my garden.
