Thanks. yes, I don't think strains have got less strong and I do think some interesting stuff has emerged in the last 10 - 15 years... just not as much as one would have hoped. And that, I believe, is because of the limited gene pool and the limitations on breeding that are unaviodable because of prohibition.

Certainly some interesting work HAS been done: autoflowering plants are way, way forward from waht was available in 1994 (when I started growing): back then it was the decidedly dodgy ruderalis skunk from sensi and that was your lot. Now there are decent autoflowerers and that surely has opened up all sorts of growing possibilities.

The work of a few seed banks like afropips, ACE and mandala is all worth a look. I wish there was more of this sort of thing available and that some big scale breeding projects could be done off the back of those genetics.

If you're interested in breeding, DJ short's (short) grow book 'Cultivating...' is worth looking at ; the Greg Green 'bible' is excellent.

Yes the prohibition puts the limits for what the plant can give..
Think about the possibilities that would emerge if there were no laws forbidding or regulating the plant.

Iīm in day 8 of 12/12 now, and have been tieng down the branches and topped/fimmed both plants.

Still have to tie down the more new upper branches but Iīm gonna go easy on them as the are hardening now..

So far no nutes, just my soilmix, but Iīm gonna start giving them small dosages of Hesi Bloom Complex 1/10 next watering.

Both strains give branches like hell!

Never had plants this size before as I just got my new light setup 250w MH+HPS Cooltube.
Had a 150w HPS with small CFLs for the lower branches before,
242w all together.

How is it going for your plants?

Tried the Amsterdam Mist yet?

No plants in as I have been away but sooncome.

Yes, tried the Amsterdam Mist (dried but not cured) - very nice. Lovely flavour. Steepling high, something of a crashing comedown too (that will be the NL then)!

Nice! My experience tells me that the crash that most strong sativa-hybrids have, softens out after a long cure,(allthough it gets stronger, clearer and more psychedelic) and also when you get more used to the strain.

Will be exiting to see if thereīs different phenotypes in this strain or if itīs homogenized.

How long did you flower your AM plants btw?

Hi

flowered for 62ish days from appearance of first pistils. Was definitely ripe as one actually started to die on the stem.

Flavour not developing much in the cure but the strength is. It's very strong! Oddly slightly anaesthetic - makes my tongue tingle and has some numbness in the face. It's good weed but not sure it's a cup winner for me: not enough in the flavour department (tastes fine but not "wow"). Compared to the White Widow and the Drive-by I grew in the same crop, it's #3 in the bunch. White Widow definitely the winner. Taste is extraordinary and it's mind bogglingly strong. My Drive-by is not quite as strong but kicks AM butt on flavours.

7/10?

All right!

So Iīm guessing you did about 10w on 12/12?
Sounds like you harvested at the very end and got the best of the body high there?

My pheno smells absolutely wonderfull! probably my favorite smelling plant so far, so itīs hard to imagine it wouldīnt satisfy me in the taste department.
But to me thatīs secondary compared to the high..

The buds are looking very very tight but the leaves are mostly sativa looking.

Stems have alot of purple on them, actually more than on the Purple Haze

Iīve seen a pic thatīs supposed to be AM thatīs very sativa looking, so Iīm guessing thereīs that pheno in there..

Also the commercial pic is of a more sativa looking bud.
But I donīt mind a good hybrid either
