Slimm's Sweet Casey Seed Run
I decided to create some Sweet Casey seeds: Grateful Head Casey Jones x SOTF420 Sweet Tooth #4. I don't have a lot of extra room right now so I wanted as few plants as possible. Something about my environment and the way I drop beans; I always yield really high female / male ratios. So I figured 6 beans (3 of each) should get me at least one male and a female of each strain. Beans were soaked for 24 hours in water and H2O2. All germinated and were placed in mini hempy buckets under ancient chinese drop shipped LED lights (Yes SOTF, 2 Lumigrow 330 ES replacements are on the way!).
The lights are pretty weak so I am running these 12/12 from seed in 2 liter coco hempy buckets to keep the plants small. Did a little LST to see how each strain responds. All the amendments are OMRI except for the nutrient salts which are OC+ controlled release nutes for simplicity. Media is coco. As luck would have it I got 5 females and a single Casey Jones male. Perfect! You can see him towering in the back center of this photo. Mid flower shot. First the Casey Jones - she really responded well to the LST, making some serious branches. This plant would probably do well in a scrog with a short amount of veg time. She's a stinker - notes of rotting meat and puke come to mind. She exuded some nasty chemical smells in the jar, but a few days later she is mellowing out and is beginning to smell great now. The Sweet Tooth girl wanted to maintain that single cola habit more than the CJ. With some veg time, may be better to top this one than to LST. I'm sorry to say that I was experimenting, adding azomite to this run and I ended up over feeding the SWT a bit. The CJ seemed to be fine with that, in fact they were left a little hungry throughout the grow. The SWT were very dark through out the grow and were unable to use up the stored nitrogen and finished much darker than I like. You can see the difference pretty clearly in the two photos above. The fans on the CJ are beginning to fade, while the SWT hasn't a chance of lightening up. I also overdid the molasses and ended up with a bad case of root rot on one of the girls. It's too bad too because that plant was the largest of the females. I was able to correct the problem with neem, H2O2 and re-inoculation of beneficial bacteria and fungus, but yield was seriously compromised. Oh well, it's a seed run anyway. I wasn't too worried about yield so it gave me a chance to tweak things and see what happens. The SWT #4 is really a nice plant to grow. Easy to take care of, vigorous, strong and smells like citrus candy. The rest of the photos are all of Sweet Tooth #4 late in flower. Two pics of the harvested beans. Casey Jones F2 on the left and Sweet Casey on the right. If you look closely you may be able to see a double seed at the bottom of the photo. It is heart shaped.

Thanks SOTF. Didn't have much time to journal and a very constrained flower room so I just snapped photos along the way and turbo posted the whole grow.

Yes SOTF it did get a whole lot brighter in here! The light in this tent went from two 115 watt panels using 1 watt LEDs to a 300 watt panel using 5 watt LEDs.
The other Lumigrow will have to wait until I have the new room set up in a couple of months. I don't think I need two 300 watt lights in this little tent. I'm also going to be looking to donate my old LED panels to someone locally that needs them. So 20 Sweet Casey beans were put to soak in water, ph'ed to 6.0 with citric acid; with a splash of H2O2 to keep things squeaky clean. After 48 hours 17 out of 20 sprouted (85% germ rate). I will let the last three soak a little longer to see if they want to join the party. I will be growing these out in a tote of coco SOG style. There's a g13 haze and a blackberry kush in this tent that I may terminate or move out of here as the Sweet Casey take over. One of these beans was so eager to get going it completely shed its shell and was already an inch long with its cotyledons starting to open! Talk about hybrid vigor!

The buds are almost at 60% RH and I have been sneaking into the cookie jar, so to speak. Very nice smoke indeed. I need to run another round of SWT #4 right away because I know this jar of frosty buds will be empty by the time its fully cured. I am looking forward to giving them just the right amount of food so they finish properly next time. Much respect for all you do!
