best soil mix?

i'm after a head banger soil mix. but want to limit my budget to around £50.
so i'm gonna to buy my self some of these lovely seeds. Esben you are quite clearly the man!!
these genetics are tasty man.
i'm gonna purchase my self a packet of 'hash plant''s and the 'Danish Gold',
plus female seeds 'Purple Maroc' and kc mango.
all outdoor guerrilla styling.

soi thought as the soilmix i'd buy
kg fish, bone, blood
kg bat guano
kg water crystals (as i wont be able to travel to the plots very often)
250 lts compost
kg perlite.

does this sound like a good mix? or is there something more i should consider for the mix?

any suggestions would be very much appreciated cheers guys!!!!

Just make sure you don't have foxes around because they can sniff out FBB from a mile off & they love to dig it up, ok once they've figured out there's nothing to eat they usually leave it alone.

I'm wondering whether to use a soil mix this year, I fancy trying a few with Plant magic soil if I can find anywhere that stocks it, just to see how good it really is, it's expensive stuff though. For the others I fancy using something other than ground soil because they looked like they could have done much better last year with some half decent mix. Guessing you're down south if your mix includes water crystals, certainly don't need them up North.

*Avoid cheap deals on unknown compost - especially if you're a newbie, I made the mistake of buying cheap compost from a cheapo supermarket last year purely because it was "on offer", I thought compost is compost at the end of the day? nope, the ones I used it on did appalling, looked half dead within a few weeks & leaves started to brown & drop off right until the end no matter how I tried to adjust things, they grew very little.

Anyone know of a trusted reasonably priced compost?

New Horizon do a good organic range, so does Westland.

But for price alone i would go for B&Q Multi-Purpose it has a good amount of fert's added so no need for feeding till a month or so into the grow.

Hope this helps ya

Did you edit your post there Yanupnorth... lol ...it was a funny story too but if the guy got your car reg your pretty f*cked tbh .. thats also a lot of lime i think he's sold you the biggest bag they had to get as much money as possible out of a naive canna grower , you'll know to go to a big DIY store/ Garden Center (dobbies etc) next time ....it's less intrusive

stay safe Yan

Thanks yep I did delete lol, pretty sure he could easy obtain or know my car reg if he wanted to use it, I think they have a cam on the way in somewhere too.

Yeah gotta say I felt slightly on edge after that question, I'd re-post story if I had a copy, doubt it's gonna make a scrap of difference compared to what happened ha. To be honest I thought he possibly knew of growers to ask something like that straight up.

If he was going to report me surely he wouldn't have asked that? I just don't know, being a small garden center not doing so well atm maybe it pays to be on the look out for any suspect purchases, might earn him a bit of much needed extra on the side reporting, let's hope not.

I had a similar experience a couple of year's ago thats why i laughed when i read it ... but thats not good to have someone come out and say that.

We bought perlite, lime, compost, etc and the guy deffo knew what was going on and we got the same dreaded question as you "whats it for ? " i just replied its for the greenhouse tomato's that we'll be growing in the spring then we made a very sharp exit,

i'll never go back to one of those little garden center's again their just to nosey imo.

nice one for the feedback guys.
yanupnorth: yeah i am down south and to be honest we do get a fair bit of rain.
my main thought with the water crytals was that i didn't want to have to go back to the plots very often and i thought that if i placed water crystals down then there wouldn't be any problems if there was a drought.
however on the FBB situation. have been talking to one of my grow buddies and he said the same thing, we do have a lot of fox's and baggers around my area so maybe it not the best idea, perhaps bonemeal? or would that do the same thing?
i only really thought about it as i am on uk 420 alot and the guys over there pretty much all use FBB and they get amazing results, i mean getting around 6 to ten ounces per plant.
i have re thought my plan now though as the soil around my area is actually pretty good or so i am told. slightly clay'y. so am now thinking instead of spending loads of money on compost and things i'm going to use the soil provided and then use a shit load of cow shit as the bottom dressing, chuck in some perlite ad lime (is this lime stone or actual limes?) and then just feed them on seaweed and molassess tea. so 100% organic grow.
this way i can spend the 50 quid that i was going to use on compost on an extra three packets of seeds.
there are so many of the hybrids from hell that i want to give a wack at outdoors so this is really the ideal option.
what strains are you guys going to be growing this year?
