I watched "American Idol" last night for the first time in my life...all this time assuming it to be a real 'wank-fest', but it was actually entertaining. Maybe I just caught it on an off night. Anyhow.....

There was this trailer-dweller that sang Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple man" and I ended up using it as a lesson for a guy I've been trying to teach guitar to, and it's actually a really nice tune, despite the redneck connotations.

When Randy Jackson said "I love Lynyrd Skynyrd" I thought I had heard the B'nai b'rith saying " I love leather lamps".....in the end, I think this show advanced beyond sheer voyeurism and might actually have some merit, not only that I was surprised that I would be inspired by anything beyond background nausea, but that I heard people sing tunes that were not saccharin-laden diabetic-coma inducers.......It was really a treat. Good for them. :tup:

Sheerly as a sick, drive-by rubber necker, I want to hear someone attempt something as outrageously campy as Tom Jones or William Shatner........Please, anytime.......

I recall hearing Tom Jones as a singer when I was a kid in the 70's and my brother (Who's a respected classical trumpet player now) saying "It's a sock, you know",.... LOL I still like Tom, and Neil Diamond for that matter.

Skynard kicks ass.......great southern rock, and very to the point.

I refuse to watch that show...or any TV for that matter.... it turms my braims to goo.

That's what I thought Genki, but this kid was a real redneck singer....I thought all the shit on American Idol was that "Boyz to men" crying boy band shit...that's why I never watched it.....I hate that faggy music.....no offence to fags.

Soon bro, there;s a tailor I want to visit, he does suits for about $600, and you get two pair of pants....and he keeps your measurements on file, so you just order them next time.....(He'll send you fabric swatches for choices)...man....

Get some Ikura and Unagi.

My local baker is Japanese, so every morning it's "Ohaiyo onegaishimas..." (Phonetic).....Japanese is a fascinating lang.

i guess posting in this forum is applicable?.. anyhow with all the doom n gloom threads out lately, im sure a little light hearted discussion isnt so bad is it?

Personally i cant stand those x factor pop idolly programmes, but there is always someone who can surprise you. Glad u had an enjoyable time watchin lothar..
