Sorry thought I posted those results. We ran swelling test and it swelled big time, just like Oil Slick suggested that it would. I didn't find the results in archives on my first pass, but will do more searching and post them as soon as I do.

We didn't run a GC to see if it leached anything out. Let me discuss setting such a test up with Joe. We can't test the butane, cause it is gone, so we will have to use another carrier.

It's not pure as other extractions I did, but I think the starting material was the key. I mixed 3 different plant's trimming leaves and one was a little bad, too many small parts... when I use trim comes from plants grown in hydro I think the hash tends to be purer...big leaves, big stem don't make much contaminants.

What do you guys think about using 5 gal paint strainer bags to make hash???

I use them to hold material in the washing machine, closing them off with a ziptie.

It looks like i have a LOT of reading to do on extracts. I wanted to find a better tasting alcohol based extract. I just soak it in everclear for several days then low cook at about 150*F for 8 to 10 hours. Run through a 120u bag to clean it then proceed to to drink the filtered green booze with favorite mixer. This is the nastiest tasting thing in the world But the hard hit was what seemed to get me through the chemo. Is there an easy way to make this taste less horrid?

Freeze all of your materials and do a 3 minute soak, ensuring your extraction is done at the coldest temps possible. Repeat for a second wash, and set to a hot bath at 250F until the small fizzy bubble production suddenly tapers off.
