Marijuana Mouth Spray Sativex May Hit Shelves By 2013

(KMOX) – A British drug manufacturer is hoping for a big score from consumers and a green light from the FDA for its medical marijuana mouth spray in 2013.
Seven countries including the UK, Spain and Germany have approved Sativex to treat patients with multiple sclerosis. Makers GW Pharmaceuticals hopes the drug will be used as a prescribed replacement to medical marijuana in the United States.


Patients take the drug by spraying it into their mouths like a breath spray with a dosage meter. This way, GW Pharmaceuticals says people can derive maximum benefit from the drug without feeling a “high.”

GW’s website says side effects can include dizziness, which occurs mainly in the first few weeks of treatment, and fatigue. There is no mention of the munchies.


Sativex contains pure amounts of delta 9-THC and cannabidiol – marijuana’s two best-known active ingredients and is the world’s first pharmaceutical drug made from grown marijuana rather than its synthetic equivalent. The drug is grown under computer-monitored conditions in secret greenhouses located in southern Britain.


GW Pharmaceuticals was founded specifically to bring cannabinoid medications to market and is traded on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange.

Sweden just passed the spay to be legal are going out to first patients with MS in the start of this summer. One weeks treatment will cost around 1200Kr/week = (190 USD/week)

While this is cool in theory, this spells the end of medical marijuana as we know it.

2012 is a critical year, get out there and vote...as Sativex phases out medical mj as we know it, full legalization is the next phase

Of course it is, this shit is so blatantly obvious every time I hear about pharmaceutical pot it's like a big fuck you.

My boss' brain is permanently damaged by all the booze she drinks, there is no other explanation for her behavior, meanwhile I'm the only person in the office that can remember anything, and I got to come home and hear about pharmaceutical pot, knowing full damn well they'll knock down my door for cultivating a plant, a non-toxic harmless plant, that those same drugs are made from.

the almighty dollar is right, but there is more to it.

Marijuana is the enemy of oppressive minds and ideas everywhere, that is why they want to horde marijuana for this sativex company so they can give it to us while minimizing the goodness.

You and I are oppressed. Not Syria oppressed, but oppression is a slippery slope.

unfortunately, I don't see full legislation as the next logical step when drug companies start pumping this shit out. It is a full fledged attack on MMJ, decrim and legalization bills. The FDA wants control, and as of now, they don't have any. I do agree though that this year is very important for everyone to vote on bills in their local areas to support any sort of forward progress.
