Isn't saffron simply the pistils/stamens of crocus? I can buy crocus at my local nursery all day long, too. Same with poppies (yes, those kind of poppies).

Wasabi. Real wasabi is extremely expensive. Most Americans, myself included, have never tasted real wasabi, what we get is horseradish with some green stuff in it, wasabi-flavored.

Herbs, well grown hydroponically, can net you a decent profit. I personally have found specialty and exotic lettuces/greens to be extremely easy to grow, have almost zero pest issues and because by simply allowing some to go to seed is all that's needed, I don't have to buy new seed every year. Cropping the lettuce quickly gives you microgreens.

I personally don't think any of these plants will require the kind of lighting a flowering plant needs, because you're not asking them to produce flowers, only vegetative, leafy material.

So that's why I had some wasabi peas one time and LOVED them and haven't liked anything "Wasabi" since, including peas... but not of the same mfg. I get it.

Excellent advice. Lettuce plants are one reason a 1000w HPS is listed by the mfg as covering 8'x8' lol

Cash cropping requires marketing skills, packaging to please and customer-service skills.

Remember.... if you start anything new and you're still struggling with the basics after a few months.... you should probably try something else. I CAN grow and it works well for me and is stuff I understand.... Real-Estate is NOT. LOL I know folks that are the complete opposite. Pick something you have at least a smidgen of talent in... it will reduce the wounds on your forehead and keep your frustration levels manageable. lol

Stay Safe!

the edibles mushroom thing is a fantastically profitable idea

also, microgreens are very high output $ for what ya gotta put in em
not really as profitable to do 'em hydro, but you could still probably come out ahead

think metal shelves with as many layers as possible, light in the center of the room.
since the leaves will turn to the center, they are easier to harvest also.

im just finishing up my first legal biz room, i will post some pics when im finished

BTW that pluton sucked. We grew it outside-looked awesome, smelled great, everything but when dried, it had 0% high.
