Live Trichoderma
I posted a similar post in organic soil but with little response I figured id give you guys a go. I have grown edible mushrooms and have the equipment/knowledge to isolate and grow fungi. I have dealt with trichoderma as an extremely common "contamination". Now knowing trichoderma is a beneficial fungi for roots. Has anyone ever even heard of growing trich on say a coco choir plug and placing it at the bottom of your root zone during transplant? Or possibly adding it to a compost tea?
I figure everyone paying crazy prices for these inoculate dry powders. Wouldn't I be skipping a few steps by not just adding spores into mediums. But true living colonized trichoderma. I don't really know much about trichoderma and if only certain strains are ok? Or if I would be better growing a multi-spore or try to isolate it down? |

I don't see why not. I'm pretty sure the canna aktrivator and plant magic essense etc are just freeze dried spores or live culture maybe so you could make up a culture and innoculate yourself. How would you go about isolating it though?
I seem to remember a friend trying this once and he ended up settling for the plant magic instead as it's a lot more than just trichoderma and when he tried growing his own he kept getting contams but i don't think he was into mycology so you might have better luck.

As I myself have grown several edibles and love coir as a culture sub I know this common and nasty contam quite well - I also know U-Grow sells coir bricks inocculated with trich - so why bother with colonizing it instead of just buying a brick and using it??? Although I considder myself a DIY man I´d rather use this solution than growing this mean green willingly. Maybe this is cause I usually have some colonizing trays or monos around and just can´t bare the thought of having this contam around killing my Oysters, Namenko or what ever edible I have going at that moment. I know it´s prolly not the answer u´ve hoped for but nontheless my 2 cent.

i have been having mad root rot/disease for awhile now
a friend turned hooked me up with some beneficial fungi which contains trichoderma among other things and also some beneficial bacteria both are dry the fungi is a light almost white colored powder the bacteria is more like a dry soily tea mix after months of strugling with my nft setup, i am finally seeing some nice roots justs starting seriously from diseased to roots in about a day i dont know all to much about it but i am gonna see the trichoderma has something to do with it the brand was "atomic nutrients" and i was told trichoderma cannot be listed on the ingredients because of some usda crap i believe in the trichs for sure from dead res to live res here is a sour bubble that was in bad shape |
