AVG warning message re: firefox?

Gday folks.

Perhaps you can help me with a small issue that may or maybe not a problem.

AVG keeps popping up this box that is telling me firefox is using too much memory. Its usually around 300MB or there abouts... it says i should close the program and restart it.

Is this a normal amount of memory for surfing the web only?

It's not a malware. Firefox is bad to leak memory. Open the task window and watch it suck while idling, lol. Closing the program is bullocks but it's better than crashing.

I get that error occasionally, usually when I have more than 4 tabs open. I run win7 on an archos tablet, which only has 1 gig of ram.
Unless firefox is responding slowly dont worry, if not restart firefox. Works for me

I used to get that when I had AVG, I have avast now and it never happens.

Dump avg and get avast.

another good thing about avast is this hot chick voice comes on and tells you when it is updated, its very nice to listen to.

my computer runs much smoother now without avg.

Avast free? I am not familiar with that anti-virus program. I was using Trend Micro Titanium Edition but the trial version that came with my notebook expired.

Thanks guys.

I used to have avast but it ran out. I generally switch between avg and avast every year or so.

Yeah that chicks voice is kinda hot...

i prefer free avast regardless but clear your mozilla cache

might have some nastiness in it

also super anti spyware is your friend

Another vote to dump the AVG for avast, and yea firefox can use up quite a bit of memory.

AVG has made my computer crash every time I've tried to use it. Avast is good, I use the free trial when I have issues.
