Newbie needs Advice

Im a first time grower. Im going to use an indoor 4x4x8 set-up, with a 600 watt mh for veg, and a 600 watt hps for flowering. I havent decided on soil or hydro yet. Im still doing my homework, lol. Im going to use cannacopia beans. I just havent made up my mind on what 3 strains to order. Im thinking chunky cheese, chocolate, and c99 x dc. Any advice would be much appreciated.

My personal advice at least on buying strains, after years of making huge lists etc, is to figure out the one or two that you really really want, and buy multiples of those. Very few seed companies will last for more than 10 years, and their genetic offerings will usually change in that time.

Make a bunch of seeds from your males and females. The offspring will be just as nice as the parents in many cases.
I still have some 10 year old seed that I KNOW will still germinate.

Good luck to you!

Just thought of another suggestion in the same price range.
Chimera's Ultimix. Maybe some Lapis Mountain Idica and some Ultimix...

I personally bought 3 packs of Lapis Mountain Indica last year after reading Icon and Doobieduck's reviews. Doobieduck stating that LMI was about the only strain that didn't give him paranoia, got me really interested. I haven't grown for a while myself though.

I do soil only..and have for 20+ years. On that note, everything I've read says soil first and learn how to grow. Once you get some experience, move up to hydro if that's your choice.

Make sure that you control your stink. #1 thing to have locked down before growing IMO.

crack some bag seeds 1st, getting seedlings going and keeping them from stretching can be hard for 1st timers.

Bag seed sounds like a good idea while your waiting to get your other seeds.

I personally like to get the seedlings going under some fluorescent tubes. That way I won't accidentally burn them and they won't stretch either. Just put them about an inch from the tubes, or closer if they're cool enough. Even the old less expensive T12 fluorescent tubes will work. A simple "shoplight" hanging on a couple little chains. I've always done it that way myself.

Also I've noticed that most of the experts, at least that I like the most, seem to swear by organic soil, and using metal halide for the entire grow. The halides seem to bring out some of the gentler aromas that HPS does not.

Chunk D, Lapis Mountain indica are both steller plants imo.....

For the 3rd, I personally want to try Babbas Kush!

GL, all I've grown from them has been pretty damn good.
