Knna, I appreciate you stopping by and taking a look. You have no idea how much you have helped with the evolution of this light! The zeners are a great idea, I will be adding them in the near future. I actually already have MOV's on the line side - they were installed after these pictures were taken.
420empire, yes, you could use all LED's. I wanted something approaching full spectrum with this luminaire, as well as a large form factor to give even coverage over a scrog and thought that this would be a good way to approach it. I've had good success with the Lumigrow fixture, which is primarily red & blue with a few white LED's scattered about, so that approach works well also. 420ish, the current lamps that are installed are Osram 2700k, but I have a pretty wide selection in inventory including 3000k and 4100k. In looking at the SPD charts for the lamps, they all have great spectral distributions. Even the very red-oriented lamps have plenty of blue, and the only place that they are weak is in far-red. |

Your attention to detail in wiring puts many commercial operations to shame. I'm amazed.

I rarely say things are perfect because there's always room for improvement,
This however is perfect, a masterpiece.

F***ING glorious rives. Bravo Sir.
...next time you open it up, how about replacing those zip ties with cable lacing? You know it deserves it

Just brilliant.
Been reading up on LED's myself. Thinking of having a play. Currently I have 3x600watt HPS bulbs. I was thinking of playing with LED lighting to try and reduce my carbon footprint a bit. What I have in mind is having HPS-A turn on mon, B on tues, C on wed, B thrus, A Fri, B sat, C sun then repeat. I am aware that lamp B is doing more work here, but you get the drift. I was then thinking of supplementing the HPS with LED lighting spread around the HPS fixtures. My thinking was a reduction in power consumption with minimal loss of yeild as well as hopefully a reduction in temperature and hence a reduction in cooling (I'm aircon'ed). Perhaps I could even reduce the time the HPS comes on down to 8hrs a day while leaving the LED's on for 12? So I don't really have any questions or much to add, but I would like to mention a few things I was thinking of. First, I was looking at manufacturing data from Cree. I noticed their royal blue and their white LED's have a similar spike in the correct blue wavelength that we all like with the difference being that the White LED has a bell curve I suppose you would call it over the remaining wavelengths (visible) peaking in the middle there, around the green area. I was thinking the white LED would be a good source of a broader spectrum wavelength while offering a decent amount of blue light. As mentioned by others, there are some fixtures available commercially which scatter a few white LED's in the mix. Second, Has anyone thought of sourcing a supplier of cheap torch reflectors? I've got a couple of LED torches that were quite cheap, $15 including the aluminum body, reflector, and LED. These seem to really focus the beam and I was wondering if that would give the LED a better penetration? Of course this would come at a cost of light footprint. Just an idea for discussion. Third, What are your thoughts on UV LED's. Do you think its worth throwing a handful into a fixture to possibly help oil production? Anyway, I loved this little show and tell. You've done a really awesome job and its very inspiring. I cant wait to get myself sorted and have a play. I've still got a hell of a lot of reading to do understanding this stuff but its so much fun I cant stop. Woody |

I just have seen your setup, Im so embarassed with mine , i m thinking of putting down my photos
![]() So clean ![]() have you tested your hybrid setup with your grow? spectrumwise will be far better than pure LEDs. if I have calculated correctly your setting will be around 350-370Watt at the plug? how big is your grow room? again you put us to shame with your construction skills
