What kind of pests do you have Rob? Cause Neem Oil didn't do shit against fungus gnats for me.

Well what's wrecking damage right now is a spontaneous invasion of both thrips AND spider mites. I have to get some neem oil ASAP for those before they do irreparable damage to my personal favorite SLH mom. It definitely looks like I'm going to lose some strains that I haven't even gotten to test yet... :( a variety of cheeses (LA Cheese, BX1Cheese) to said "irreparable damage".
I've had fungus gnats in coco and they are a bitch; yet they've never caused a plant to even get close to death, probably because the roots grow back so quickly in coco. I've helped combat them with sticky traps for the adult flies and BT/mosquito dunks sprinkled over the top of the root mass. I've never, ever had thrips prior and I haven't had mites in this garden... so this is quite unfortunate for me. I'm off to the store now to get some neem oil. I've been using https://www.bayeradvanced.com/insects...ecticidal-soap but I'm not sure it's as effective as I want it to be. |

Just got back from the store - picked up some 70% concentration neem oil extract. Label doesn't say anything about recommended dilution measurements... suggestions?

Not gonna edit, so I won't ever double/triple post when I get 50 posts, but in an effort to boast my ability to PM:
I just applied the neem at 2.5tbsp in a gallon of water. Will update later, I think my BS and a cheese is dead but the other strains look hopeful. |

20-40 mL of oil is needed for 4 litres of water. Put some liquid soup in warm water, like 4-8 mL and then mix with neem oil. Apply it every 7 days till pests are completely gone. Usually it takes only one application of neem solution and your plants will be healthy.

I've been applying neem about every 2-4 days. These thrips are like black and silver flightless terminators and I haven't been able to find spinosad.
My first application of neem @ 30ml/4liters only killed the barely rooted spider mite infestation. Noticing that the thrips were pretty much unscathed by the application I decided to double up on the concentration and double down on risking my remaining plants. I figured the thrips had finished off the other strains I had, better give it all I've got. To be fair, if I had my plants in bigger pots before the thrips hit they would have survived... here's to not procrastinating transplanting. 50ml/4liters got 'em good with only slight burn to the already thrip-damaged leaves, and those were removed to help eradicate any unseen eggs. I've been rotating between neem, bayer organics and good ole' hand crushin'. The thrips are seemingly 99.9% gone, I only saw two last night that were actually living. So right now my plants are looking great, even though I've only got half of the strains I had before - already started popping replacements. Vanilla Kush, LA Confidential and Berry Bomb will be danced with next; thrip free! |

After spending an hour with them and inspecting them closer, the neem/bayer products are only keeping the thrips in check so that they can't brood and reproduce in numbers... they have not been defeated.
I've decided I need spinosad, gonna have to scour the local stores asap. I refuse to flower anything until the pests are eradicated, I may even have to set off a doktordoom in a tight space and scrub everything else down. |

When it comes to neem oil, the most important part of it is called Azadirachtin. The more of Azadirachtin, better the oil and results.

I've finally found some Spinosad mix, from Monterey Garden. Time to put these bugs to bed for good.
