Are you doing any foiler feeding? or do you have fans blowing directly on the plants?

I've noticed similar things with both situations. I was foiler feeding with a spray bottle and the plants were too close to the HID light and the water intensified the light in spots and made my leaves freak out.

The continuious blowing of a fan on the leaves may also cause this

P.S. get a cheap digital camera a picture will help us help you !

Probably overferting burn

YOu are ferting you say? And how old are they? How far is the 400 watt light from the plant/plants? How warm is it and how big are the pots the plants are in. With some info perhaps we could be of help or do you really have any plants kid? BOG

"Rather" translates into what in feet/inches/miles/cm/mm/km/M/Stones throws? How far above the tops of the plants is the light? Have you had a 400 watt HPS on them since they were sprouts? What temperature is the area you are growing in? And if you say it is rather hot I will not want to help you. What symptoms other than "The leaves seem dry" can you describe? Are they yellow/brown and brittle? Are they still green but brown on the tips and curling under? Are they cup shaped and shriveling? You've already upset BOG. Be quick about your business.
