Going for soil to hydro....I feel I am ready to make the switch

OK.....been thinking about this for over 2 years.....I have been growing outdoor for many years...moved indoors 3 years ago....and use Happy frog soil with all orgainc nutrients.....I use 3 gal grow bags....in SOG.....plants love it...and my yield is nearly 1 gram per watt....depending on the strain.....I have become an expert in cloning and have a seperate mother area with 8 mother plants....I have all the cuttings, clones, teens, I need to keep my SOG going......tons of work.....but very enjoyable....

I am thinking about the different types of hydro....DWC...flood and drain.....top water....aeroponics.....and all appeal to me as more clean opperation......soil is messy.....and clean up....is very time consuming.....

I would like to get anyone thoughts on the switch.....

thanks....in advance for your response

Come in from the dark... he water is fine..I prefer hydro indoors for ease and cleanliness.. an ebb and flo system is very easy to maintain and run...most days are set it and forget it...

I've gone from pure chem hydro, to an organic soil type of hydro, to straight soil. No bottled ferts any more. Given the cost of ferts and quality of the bud, I'd never buy another drop of fert, whether it said "organic" or not.

I am now growing the best bud of my life. When I'm done, I'll cut the plant down at the base, make a small cut in the soil and plant a new seedling. No new soil, super low cost, super good and healthy bud.

Thanks Granger2. Yes, the best bud I'm growing from soil. Soil with compost and EWC. No bottled ferts because they're just a waste in my mind. I have better things to do with my cash than give to some "organic" fertilizer company, regardless of how pretty the bottles are.

The ebb and flow does look easy.....still......trying to decide.

"rrog".......I have done that type of growing for quite a while...and I am not a fan of reusing the soil....just too many things can go wrong....I perfer new soil every time I plant....I do not recommend reusing soil at any time.

It takes work....but well worth the effort.

Now as far as nutrients you speak of.....when I say organic....I do not mean...what is says on the label.....OMRI = organic....I have a 50 lb bag of 12-12-2 for veg.....a 40 lb bag of 0-0-52 for flower....a 1 gal of bud swell 0-12-2....a gal of sea bird guano....2-12-12......a gal of sea kelp for follier feeding 1 oz per gal.....gravity for bud hardness the last 4 weeks.....My total nutrients cost is very low......and it it truly organic....

I use a meter with probe to mix nutrients......set ph at 5.8....and ppm at 1500 or .....EC around 2.....and depending on the day....I switch off on the type of nutrients I use.

Enclosed is a picture of my Earth OG.....its a nice plant to grow.

gravity for bud hardness
You might want to do some research. Among Gravity's ingredients is paclobutrazol, a plant growth retardant that is known to cause problems with liver function in rodents and is not approved for use on food crops (just ornamentals). I'm pretty sure it isn't organic, no matter what the bottle says.

There was recently a thread on Gravity and similar products in the Nutrients and Fertilizers forum.

weeddaddy, have a look at the various "no-till" soil grows maybe, before you throw in the towel.

After studying the topic for quite some time, it's clear to me that this is the way we should be growing everything including food crops.

Fuck Monsanto

This is well worth an investment of an hour and a half. You can watch it in parts. Monsanto is the most sinister corporate player in the world.
