GK 2009 vintage
I figured in light of the recent questions regarding GK viability I'd start a journal log here in the forum. These seeds were the ones I germed here: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php...3&postcount=36
Of the six that sprouted five made it, the one that died was my fault. I broke its stem whilst transplanting, and even decapitated another but it came back to life (zombie gk!). The five I have are all vigorous and healthy. Grow medium is soil made up of promix, worm castings, N and P guanos, seaweed kelp, lime, greensand, and perlite. Refer to LC mix in the organic soil forum for a basic formula. I kinda winged it this time and so far so good. I have had some issues with watering and ph because the soil didnt have enough time to cook and form a buffer. They've been under a 600watt MH since mid September with lights on temps in the mid 80s and humidity around 55-65%. They are all nicely purpled on the stems and under the leaves with no crinkle mutations. I just topped them and already they are responding well with new shoots of growth. I have three autoflowers that are finishing up and once they are done will be flipping the lights to 12/12. Also I'm hoping the clones i made from the tops root in time to flower. Any males are going to be kept to collect pollen and selective pollinate branches to make more seeds. No pics right now until I sort out my camera issue but I promise I will have some soon.

OK got the camera working again.
I plan to switch to 12/12 in another week with the goal to harvest on Christmas. This is actually a BS 2.2 that is all purple, I'm guessing its heavily BB leaning. Zombie GK, the one that grew back a head as a seedling. Purple underside. All topped and throwing out new shoots of growth. A couple of the GK's had a weird growth patter at the nodes. The branches were sever inches vertical from each other on either side as if there was no set node at all. Very weird. Close haircut. Temps are holding steady at 82 lights on, Humidity at 55%. There is some yellowing in the lower leaves and some spotting on the newer. This I believe is from ph issues, the soil did not have enough time to cook so it's not buffering as well as it could.

Just switched to the 3 gal smart pots and flipped to 12/12
Thought I had powder mildew starting on a BS2.2 but it turned out it to be a male slooging all over himself. He's got no branching or any attributes I consider desirable so it will be culled. The good news is I have one confirmed GK male! I am going to do an open pollination and if enough seeds are made I'll send some in for the server fund. There's also a c99 male in the mix that I can hopefully direct his pollen to the lone c99 female. If I feel the chance of cross pollination is too great I'll cull the c99 male and stick with the GK, but we'll see in a few weeks. I also caught this guy on one of the plants: Not sure what it is or if its doing any damage but I let him be. It didn't seem to be eating the leaves or anything so I guess its some kind of predator? That's it for this week, I'll try to post weekly flowering shots.

Some Halloween pics:
GK #1 GK #2 and its clone. This was the only top that fully rooted and is now growing again. Im going to transfer it to a 1 gallon and let it flower with the rest single cola style. GK #3 I think it's a male. Gonna keep all males and open pollinate. GK #4 and his little balls, hopefully they get bigger lol. GK #5 This one had some serious Phosphorous deficiency until I transplanted it to the bigger pot with a slightly healthier mix of soil. Now all is well. Here's two blue satellite 2.2 phenos also in the garden: BS 2.2 Pheno 1 all green and a fruity peach like smell to it. BS 2.2 Pheno 2 Purple and smells just like the GK, blueberry sativa leaning for sure. *11/03 Update: GK #2 is confirmed Male. That makes three males and two females.*

Deezy you'll be my hero if you send GK F2's in to the server fund. DOOO IT~!
Mr. Mountain said he was planning to do that with his latest GK run and no word since, so I decided to not get my hopes up. Someone needs to follow through. I got 1 for 10 germ on my pack last year and the one grew about 1 inch and then just stopped. For no reason whatsoever. Stayed like that for about 2 weeks before I started to realize it was no longer alive. Always wanted to try this girl out. Some C-99 influence might add to the potency also. Whose C-99 daddy you got in there? |

The C99's are from the GN09 F2 that was up on the bay last Christmas. Really nice plants out of these, you can look at my New Year's grow and see them. The C99 male in the cab is a failsafe just in case the GK's are sterile, if they aren't its getting culled. With luck I'll be sending in GK(m) x GK(f), GK(m) x BS2.2(f)pheno 1&2, and GK(m) x C99(f).

Week 2
All three males are nicely filled out and starting to drop pollen. I have them positioned so that the air flows through them towards the females. With a total of four (counting the clone) flowering males I should have a decent amount of seeded bud. Some pics: GK #5 GK #1 C99 BS pheno 1 BS pheno 2 - bb dominant

Week 3.5
The males are in full bloom and everything is covered in pollen. I had the beginnings of a bug infestation but a quick and generous application of some organic insecticide soap thing took care of that. Not sure what kind of insect it was, some small winged bug crawling along the top of the soil. Whatever it was it was included in the 100 insects the soap claimed to kill so all is well. Now the pics: The three males in all their glory. I assume the dead leaves are because they've released their pollen and are dying off. Every time the fan or I shake them theres a big plume of pollen released and the ground is absolutely littered with opened pollen sacs. The lone male clone and a close up of one of the males with pollen all about itself. GK #1, its small clone, and a closeup of one of its tops all covered in pollen. It is also very resinous and quite sticky. Smells great but not like grape soda. GK #5 and a pollen covered top. Also very resinous and sticky, good smell but sadly not grape soda. Hopefully as it develops and grows a more grapish aroma will present itself. BS pheno 2, the blueberry dominant. Its the tallest in the cab, also the most purple. It also smells of blueberry goodness. BS pheno 3. I decided to call this the third pheno as its somewhat purple but not quite completely and it has a more grapefruity rind smell to it. BS pheno 1, the shortest but also the most grapefruity smelling. The c99. She says she wants some more nitrogen, and maybe some phosphorus. I'll give it to her when I'm good and ready.
