AAHH!!! Day 49 w/powder mold...........
If I'm hosed, I can take it. Is there anything that can be done this late in the game ? Avg temps are 77/62 F with 24/7 ventilation and an osc fan. Humidity was around the 55-60 percent range for awhile, now its 40ish.
Fan leaves show it, it rubs off and the developing trichs stay on sticky. Short of running up and down the street screaming my fan leaves are moldy, what would u do ? Med patient trying to be very patient..... Peace |

Powdery Mildew - I"ve a few tricks up mah sleeve........
to beat this PM you can do many things, heres a list of a few:
-Sulfur Burner (combatent, preventative, doesnt harm plants, some foul odor possible) -Sulfur Bomb/Powder (combats/preventative) -Cinnamon (preventative foliar) -Milk (for leaves, preventative leaf shine) -LISTERINE-Original, Nasty yellow stuff.. (use straight or diluted, preventative, combatent) -Hydrogen Peroxide aka H2O2 (use STRAIGHT. melts pm on contact, be careful using on rooting starts-can stunt growth temporarily) -Isopropyl alchohol - VAPORIZES PM ON CONTACT - damaging to roots so be careful- evaporats in seconds use straight do not dilute. can dry out plant tissue - EVAPS SO U CAN USE UNDER hid LITES NO WORRIES- AGAIN, use straight (AND ONLY IN VEG/ON LEAF MATTER,WARPS TRICHS) FUNGUS CAN NOT THRIVE IN AN ALKALINE ENVIRONMENT - pH 8.0 WATER DOES THE TRICK BOOST AIR EXCHANGES, MORE FRESH AIR INTO THE GROW SPACE WILL INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF BEATING THE PM, AND MAY EVEN SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM. last thing... LOWER rH. HIGH RELATIVE HUMIDITY IS LIKELY YOUR CULPRIT. ITS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE COME SPRING SO GET GOIN WITH YOUR WAR NOW AND PREPARE FOR NEXT TIME. DONT CUT YOUR CROP, SHUT OFF ALL FANS AND IN A STILL AIR ENVIRONMENT WEARING GLOVES IF YA WANT CAREFULLY CUT AWAY THE AFFECTED AREAS DO NOT TRY TO RUB IT THE WHITE THAT YOU SEE THE 'POWDER' IS IN ACTUALITY MILLIONS OF SPORES CLUSTERED UP AND WAITING TO TAKE FLIGHT TO THE NEXT HOST AND GERMINATE WHEN THE CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT TO SPREAD THE DISEASE TO OTHER PLANTS IN THE VICINITY, AND WHEREVER ELSE THE WIND GOES. DISPOSE OF EVERYTHING , AGAIN, CAREFULLY AND NOT RUSTLING THE FOLIAGE TOO MUCH IN A BAG AND SEAL IT....DISPOSE OFF PREMISES. hope this helps ![]() be well edit: HEY SORRY IF ITS UNORGANIZED,I,M HIGH and the caps i aint rewritin it tho LOL!!Last edited by CaptainJack; 02-17-2006 at 04:54 PM.. |

Thanks for all the info.
Question, would I snip off all affected area's then sulfer burn it, or is sulfur a big no no in the flower stage ? Air exchange is excellent 24/7. |

What about neem oil and liquid copper? I don't know about on buds with the copper. I spray neem oil weekly until well into budding. I have a serious PM issue with my roses which are outside my grow. Neem oil and copper keep it to a minimum. Even the trees in my neighborhood have it!

Yes thanks for the informative post I think alot of us Bay Area Med users picked this up from our clones. I've started to quarantine newly arrived clones for 2 weeks so I can apply a couple doses of Serenade, which is an organic bacteria you can spray on. You can't spray after buds start to form so you have beat it in veg.

a burner will not harm your plants, they wont notice. dont neem your buds after the first trimester of flower and dont use powders or insecticides/miticides/or organicides on buds no matter ganic or chem. for your roses try sprinkling some cinnaom around the base and on affected areas with blackspot, or pm, whatever, first tho, give all affected areas a liberal LIsterine iriginal formula treatment, then treat the base of the plant and spot treat with the cinnamon. it inhibits fungus growth, and i actually got the idea from a rose guru  hope this helps |

if you are 49 days in bllom try using 7.5 ph water,, or a 50/50 milk/water solution followed by 7.5 ph water then dried with a fan...
if u see some PM when its time to cut... soak the wet buds in 7.5 ph water and use a small paint brush or laidies make up brush on the hard to get spots... again dry with a fan,,, and wait for the goodies,,,, peace |

bleach bomb the entire grow room and all equiptment well after this run with a dilution of 1 part bleach to 20 paRTS water. this is a hospital grade disinfectant and should be used in attempt to kill any remaining (exterminate?) spores or mycelial matter left on premesis after the outbreak. don't skimp on the ventilation systems in and out ![]() using neem in early veg through the first week of flower is a good idea to help boost your plants tolerances to environmental factors such as this. copper spray too, another option. a cinnamon/water concoction would be the bio-gardener's alternative. |
