The botany of desire
Documentary about plants making themselves essential to humans .
"Michael Pollan, a professor of journalism and a student of food, presents the history of four plants, each of which found a way to make itself essential to humans, thus ensuring widespread propagation. Apples, for sweetness; tulips, for beauty; marijuana, for pleasure; and, potatoes, for sustenance. Each has a story of discovery and adaptation; each has a symbiotic relationship with human civilization. The film tells these stories and examines these relationships." The part about weed starts at about 57 mins. https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=d1d_1318198696 |

Great book, I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting to like the apple/potato/tulip parts as much as cannabis but it was a very informative book and told some good stories.
