thanks to the op for the links and to the last poster for bumping.

i have been using jacks pro hydro + calcium nitrate, blossom booster for a year and been satisfied.

price can't be beat as well

edit: also note the jacks pro hydro supplies magnesium and sulfur with 100% nitrate nitrogen

also:

For best results use warm or hot water (180 F) to dissolve product. Some raw materials are slower to dissolve than others. Most fertilizer compounds dissolve in an endothermic reaction which means they absorb heat from their surroundings during the process. In strong conentrations or stock solutions (1-3+ lbs per gallon) using cold water in a cold environment will drastically slow the dissolving process ( up to 24 hours to form a true solution). In all conditions, agitation will help speed up the dissolving process by exposing more particle surface area to the water.

The advantage of the 5-12-26 formula is that you pair it with the cal-nit. This allows you to lower the cal-nit later in flower when the plant doesn't need as much nitrogen. You can then replace it with a P-K booster, or what have you. It's nice to be able to really dial strains in, and this formula allows you to do that.

How much should I lower the cal-nit and when should I look at doing this? I'm currently at week 3 in flower.

After your stretch is over drop the cal nitrate.

What's become apparent to me is that when and if you lower the calnit, you should replace the calcium that's being withheld. You really don't need to lower calnit much, if at all, for most strains.

I agree. You will need to know what your strain does to tell when to completely end the calcium nitrate. A longer running strain will suffer if you end it to soon.

You can run the jack's and calcium up till the last week if you run a lower EC. Then just flush.

In the end it depends on the strains themselves.

The NPK ratio is good with that product however the N03:NH4 ratio is off. It contains way to much NH4. I would suggest running some nitrifying bacteria in your mix to help convert the NH4 into N02 which is then converted to usable N03. So that is one thing to think about if you use the 15-11-29 mix.

I think I am going to buy a bag of jacks now. This thread has me convinced. I love maxibloom but it never fully dissolves.
